That makes sense. It does happen to me after extended play.I can tell you all from experience that most cases where sound cuts out during any game on ps3 its because the system's cache is full and can no longer process the sound and graphics at the same time. I have seen this and personally experienced this with Skyrim, Borderlands 2, DC Universe Online and several other high end ps3 games. This is normal and a is a known issue with the ps3. The only solution is to log off and reboot your ps3. Expect this to happen after about 6-8 hours of non-stop play time on ps3.
If you are playing something else before you start ARR, I would advise you to do a complete system reboot before getting into the game to make sure your cache is clear. This way you will have more play time before your sound cuts out.
Is this something game devs can fix or is it something PS3 players have to live with?
Same is happening to me. Believe this could be the problem. I have been playing a lot today, more than any other. I'm just terrified to log off.I can tell you all from experience that most cases where sound cuts out during any game on ps3 its because the system's cache is full and can no longer process the sound and graphics at the same time. Darn... I just got this again for the third time now. Stupid PS3...
Just restarting the game works as wrll on the ps3. No need for a system restart.
Actually restarting the system is the only way to clear the system cache... restarting the game doesn't accomplish that. You will end up with the sound dropping again within a few hours if you do not reboot the system.
Again this is a known issue and since the ps3 doesn't have an option built in to allow you to manually clear its system cache the only way to do so is to reboot or as some people advise: power down the system... wait 25-30 seconds then turn the system back on. I have never noticed a difference between either method so its strictly up to you. But make no mistake you cannot clear the SYSTEM cache without a SYSTEM reboot.
I have the same issue, and so far is the third time it happens, and as it is mentioned, restarting the game/console fix it, but that means you have to go through the pain of login again... Altho your explanation makes quite sense, I played FFXI on the PS2/360 for 5 years, but this never happened. Would like at least a word on this from the reps, so we can know for sure.I can tell you all from experience that most cases where sound cuts out during any game on ps3 its because the system's cache is full and can no longer process the sound and graphics at the same time. now i know at least im not the only one![]()
had the same thing happen. ps3 320gb, ethernetted to a cable modem, isp runs 5-7mbps consistantly. good to know about the cahce thanks for the heads up I will tery that as well. same situation after a few hours of gameplay silence. so i'll give that a try ans see if it helps.
This bug is here since Beta 3 and been reported (and accepted as bug) but not fixed yet. If you play continuosly for extended peroid of time you'll slowly loose all the sounds (memory leak?). Restarting game is enough as it's a game issue not the PS3 issue. This become more aparent now as people don't even dare to logout in a fear that they'll not manage to log back in again.
