They did that for FFXI's introductory video, but didn't do any pre-rendered CGIs for the expansions or other content related to XI - at least to my knowledge.

The trend is the same here with XIV. There's a reason for that. The Crystal Tools engine is essentially a glorified, super-powerful cutscene-capable game engine. Just look at FF13 for that. There weren't a lot of pre-rendered CGIs in that compared to previous iterations, which is probably the direction Square Enix is going - they want to push the envelope technologically in how they do cutscenes.
