Thread: Patch 1.17 Notes

Seeing the reactions of many people here I do not think Square Enix can do anything at all to make those guys happy. I was actually pretty happy reading the patch notes. I am really suprised by the reactions here.

I actually warned some of you guys earlier today to not get your hopes up too much, but basically got told to shut up. People were dreaming about chocobos and even chocobo training in patch 1.17 while there was no indication at all for such things. Now they are disappointed.

Another strange thing is that people always read patch notes in their own way. For some people "adjustment" means making things weaker, for some it means making things harder. It is just what it is, an adjustment, to balance things the way Square Enix want it to be. Download the patch, wait until the servers are online again, go try it out, before you rage here.

Seriously, anyone getting so worked up about a game, should simply quit playing.

And show some respect to each other, even if you are sitting behind your desk in a far away country. Yes, Kilta can be very annoying sometimes, but that doesn't give anyone the right to call her stupid. If you agree you can tell her you agree, if you disagree just tell her that, but raging and calling people stupid, retarded or whatever is not the way to go ...

At least Kilta is trying to post in a decent way .... can't be said about some others here.

Did they fix the enmity problems?

Patch Kilta1.7 is the subject in hand !

FF is known for it's pre-rendered cutscenes in the later generation games, so it would be in their best interest to continue this trend if Final Fantasy XIV is to be "Final Fantasy", especially for storyline missions, which is why they developed the Crystal Tools engine, mainly for cinematics.

Great point. I'm not as in touch with FF as you all but I've noticed this too. Great example of how tailored a game engine can be. If every cutscene *was* high quality and pre-rendered I'd be totally watching it with no arguments. My point was pre-rendered clips do indeed take time and, perhaps, Square would lay off them for a while. Saying it wasn't in their interests was too harsh.

I'm impressed with the amount of changes we are getting in this update considering some of the catastrophic events that have happened. And just think - this is only 70% of it. I can't wait to see what the other 30% is.

Loving this patch ... For all those expecting mass content be happy with what we are getting!!! 20 NM's + new side quests and possibly companies n a new seasonal event without bells(if not this patch then 1.17a) ! That's ALOT of content considering these are lead ups to actual content patches and game changing mechanics like battle overhauls. They already said they wanna redo battle system before they add mass content so why expect more than baseline changes and fixes? Plus not like they aren't working on content outside whats included here, they are saving alot of stuff for later and are working 'behind the scenes' so to speak on other things we aren't going to get right away or in one or two patches.

Anyways Rant off, this patch is awesome and can't w8 to log back on^^

The latter takes very little time to do. At the least, they can use premade animations and camera tricks to put together a scene very quickly, which I can live with. At most, they can use motion capture to create new animation, and that doesn't take long either.

right i know that much but there is stuff they need to do before actually making the cs. but i wasn't boadting anything.
