After Beta Testing 1.0, purchasing a 1.0 Collectors Edition, Playing 1.0, never canceling my subscription even after they started charging me again for 1.0, months of beta testing 2.0 purchasing a 2.0 collectors edition (despite not needing too do so) after all that, beta phase 4, open beta, early release, and now the official release may have just killed all desire I had to keep playing this game.

I know what you are going to say, this is a launch and there are always problems with launches. Yes I am aware of that, but coming from an early release stand point, I have has access to this game for 5 days, and in those 5 days i have had maybe 5 hours total that I was able to play. So my choices seem to be, roll a character on a JP server, and lose all my Legacy character goodies, patiently wait for them to fix the NA servers so more then 12 people can be on at a time, or go my merry way.

I feel your pain. I would say hang in there, but honestly I have declined to subscribe myself. People say play on a JP server, but my legacy character from 1.0 and my FC and friends are all on another NA server and I don't want to start over. I'm frustrated with everyone else that the solution is to wake up at 5am, log in, and then go AFK for hours.

If it's not better by the time this "free period" is up I just won't be a subscriber. Sometimes you just cut your losses and move on.

You get Legacy chocobo on all characters, even new ones. I did.

by legacy goodies, I meant my levels, my gill, my gear, my character in general. I don't get that on every character.

Why not just, you know, play some other game or do something else until you can play the character you want to play? Obviously there's something you like about FFXIV... and you've stuck with it for so long what would be the purpose in quitting? Out of principle? Out of spite?

Yeah, you can't play right now, but that doesn't mean you can't play in the near future. After all, if there's something you like about the game it's not the end of the world if you can't play it right now today at this very moment.

Is it disappointing? Sure. Does everyone wish there were no login problems? Obviously. But is it really something to quit (forever) over? I just have trouble thinking anyone would go through with that. I would be more likely to believe they would just quit until things get sorted, then come back to see if things have gotten better, which is perfectly reasonable to do...
