Yeah; I got a bunch of 1017s, then got told I was 73 in queue, and got in about 5 minutes later.

So seriously, after all these responses SE won't even reply and let us know what is going on?
There have been many companies in the past who have lost my patronage over poor customer services and many people feel the same. This is how companies die and I don't want SE to die because I like the Final Fantasy series.
In short - SE get your goddamn act together. Customer service costs nothing but keeps your company alive.
SE has no intention of letting us know what is going on for who only knows what reason, if they had they would have informed us by now.
You guys realize that you aren't going to learn anything right? If they had any idea what to do, I would hope that they would have already shared that information days ago.
"We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience that our servers may be causing you during this intensive launch period. I can assure you that we are working around the clock to get everything running smoothly for our NA/EU players. Believe it or not, we want you all to be able to log in at least as much as you do - we are very excited to let you all lose in Eorzea! Thank you for your continued patience."
I completely agree with OP, this complete lack of communication from SE is an absolute killer!
The main thing I cant understand from them is the absence of a proper queuing system, I don't mind waiting to play, even if I have to wait hours as I'm a few thousandth in the queue, at least Id be able to see I was getting closer. As it is our only option is to sit at the character selection screen and spam login.
If only we had some information about this it would be bearable, at least knowing a timeline as OP suggests, just to reassure us.... but unfortunately SE seem to be completely ignoring this issue on the forums. I'm sure they are working like madmen to actually sort out a long term solution, and I appreciate it, just please, let us know how its going!
Yes other MMO's have had "similar" problems at launch. SWTOR was one of them. But let me tell you, they had other servers up and running that same day to alleviate the congestion. What the -F- is taking so long to get more servers/bandwidth up at our NA/EU Data center? 5-6 days now... this is just a got damn mess.
bump cause this is ridic
WHAT ARE THEY HIDING FROM US
this is getting crazy, people cant play with family friends or guilds because of the server issues. With beta it was expected, but now your cutting in to peoples money. If you pre ordered you paid for early access and didn't get it that's money lost, if you just went and bought the game off the shelf today and had to register your 30 day time code that's money lost. I was fortunate enough to be able to log in with my gf each day but on a different server we now have a number of characters not one over level 16 because of this stupid error. Square seriously stop being CHEAP BASTARDS! open up another data center with another 10 servers, give free transfers for 3 days and add 5$ worth of crysta to everyone's account to compensate for time lost. You have a superb game milk it but don't be cheap so people cant enjoy what Yoshi and the others created.

Yep I've been trying to login for almost two hours now. Just pretty much hitting the x button on my ps3 controller. I got in queue once and then got 1017 30 seconds later... I give up... nothing left to do tonight but bump this post one more time and try again after work tomorrow (5pm EST....wish me luck). A+ for gameplay and remaking the game. F for customer service and at least letting people know what's going on...I don't think anyone is amused. Congrats on your new negative publicity SE...
I don't know how many times they need to release this game to get it right. Maybe third time is the charm? The game is fine this time log in servers with que!!
