Tanaka originally said he wanted there to be interactions with Beast tribes when they come out and the game would be in constant struggle of factions more of less. Sometimes certain beast tribes would be your friends and sometimes they would be at your throat and if that system still ever gets implemented then it will be some sort of currency you use since gil is man made and of no value to them.

then they should be listed under currency and not take up inventory space.
