While it's be tough at almost all times of the day to log on due to server congestion, once I'm finally in the game and playing it's been nothing short of great.
I have high hopes for end-game seeing that the world in general is beautiful and VERY stable (crashed every 15 minutes in XIV, haven't crashed once in XIV: ARR). The game mechanics seem solid, the battle system seems fun, improvements have been boundless in DoL, and DoH skills don't seem quiet so useless. I've not left the area of Ul'Dah and have not spent one second with nothing to do, and very little time wonder 'what am I supposed to do next.'

Stress not over the server congestion and connection issues. No doubts in my mind, a few weeks go by and they'll have the majority of the server issues taken care of.
Honestly, I'm not sure what the fuss is. Sure it's frustrating, but most *good* games I've played there have been server issues after simply patching the game, yet alone booting up the whole damn thing from new.

If you're the same as me and are really liking the game once you finally can get logged on, please do post what you like about it! Maybe you can point me to a hidden gem of fun that I can get started on right away.

gameplay is addictive. I just hope we get a speedy fix to please the masses.

I'm having an amazingly fun experience. I've not had one bad experience during gameplay. Dungeons have been a blast because everyone is very nice to each other, and the community in-game is awesome! Everyone enjoys helping each other, and people resurrect people when they ask for help on the shout chat. I've not come across anyone that ruins the community on my server. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this game develops as I will be sticking around for the future of it.

I post my experiences at length, but I feel like it would tease those who can't get in. I fully understand the frustration of being locked out during peak times when all you want to do is play with your friends.

I understand it, and all I can say is - be patient, be persistent. It is so much worth the time and effort.

Been playing all day since 9am EST and its been smooth with no issues. Done lots of duties.

yes the game is a lot of fun, but the only thing that is going to fix the issues is whee people stop playing. then they will magically claim how the problem has been solved!
i have family members who worked for decades in the R&D field, dealing with people from branches in the company from the world over. whenever the Japanese contingent had an issue (that is, when they actually admitted it), and gave this same 'sorry for the problem' response SE is giving, they could rest assured the Japanese contingent had no intentions whatsoever of actually dealing with it, no matter what they may have said.

I'm not going to accuse you of anything, except this. The family member that you speak of is probably not working on ARR so, just like everything else, you are wrong in generalizing any thing/person/business/profession/ect. It's kinda like saying an Asian is always smart, a Jewish person is always greedy, a Black guy is always a thief, a White guy is always racist, a lawyer is always a crook. Shouldn't generalize any genre based on past experiences.

With that said, I do hope you're wrong. Not really for my sake, or the game's sake, but more so for the people that would have given up early on what's shaping up to be a really good game.

Back on topic......
I had a great time playing last night. I play ARC and in typical fashion I spent 30-40 minutes waiting for DF to queue me up for sastasha/tam-tara/copperbell, but I got an LS friend playing healer that partied up with me and we ran all three. You can queue super fast with a healer in your party lol.

Once I log on, it's hard to log off. I LOVE the world of ARR!
