Can't cross play on Windows from PS3?

So, I have everything registered, paid for my subscription and patched the client on my PS3. So I'm ready to start playing on the PS3 at least.

I was under the assumption that we could cross play our characters without having to buy and register another copy of the game. When I try to patch the Windows client, I get the "No valid service account" error.

Was I misinformed or do I need to do something else that I'm not realizing? The latter could definitely be the case, lol.

If anyone knows what I should do, I'd appreciate the insight!

I'm having the same exact problems, only I can't play my PC character on PS3. It says, "No valid service account activated or registered."
I've looked for both endlessly but can't find anything about it. I WANT HELP

The accounts are separate. You can't play your PS3 characters on the PC and vice versa.

Actually yes you can. You need to link your SE serive account to your PSN account, which you should have done while registering the PS3 copy

That is not true.

You have to have two separate registration codes for PC and PS3. If you were a PC 1.0 player, you get extended rights into 2.0, if you buy a PS3 copy, this enables you to play both with only needing to buy one copy. You only need one subscription, but you must buy the game for each platform you intend to play on.

This is how it worked with FFXI regarding Xbox 360, PS2, and PC.

This person is correct. You have to own and register both copies of the game to switch between platforms.
