    Even if you don't fix the 1017 right away....

    Look, I really love this game. I feel like I've been playing two days straight. Today my Biological Anthro class was canceled, and I was happy because I thought I'd get to come home and log on a little before I have to go to work. Lo and behold, server error 1017.

    Click - 1017 click - 1017 click - 1017 (am I seriously supposed to keep doing this...?)

    I don't think this game will fail because of this - it's a great game. But...that doesn't mean anything if nobody can play. Yeah, if nobody can play it could be the best game ever and still fail.

    This is launch, and I understand that very few if any MMOs have a smooth launch. However, that doesn't mean that you guys at Square Enix can't release a statement promising that the issue is being worked on, looked at, etc. Because I mean seriously, I couldn't make a new character on a single EU or NA server. I can't log in to my main. I don't want to reroll on a JP server. ALL servers are full.

    At least I had early access; I was able to get a bunch of playtime in already. But on the behalf of everyone who has been eagerly awaiting the launch of FFXIV: ARR as patiently as I have, this is totally unacceptable. It is not just that it's unacceptable that paying customers can't log into a game they paid for - I can understand from working in retail - and especially with MMO's - that sometimes stuff goes haywire.

    What's really bugging me is that nothing insinuating a potential fix now or in the near future has been promised to us or even announced. The latest statement I saw said: "you might not be able to log in. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for understanding".
    Which really does not cut it, at least not for me.

    I feel it would be easy to at least give us some peace of mind. If there aren't enough employees to work on it, call people in. It's a really big deal that nobody can get in to the servers and there are no Queue systems. If you need an emergency maintenance to implement the queue system, that would be better (a few hrs no one plays vs indefinite hours/days most people can't play & are giving up trying).

    It would be unreasonable to expect instantaneous new servers, server expansions, etc. But a queue system or in the very least a statement regarding your attention to this problem could go a very long way.

    1017 isn't a bug or an error, it's their lockout.
    If you are getting 1017 error code, it means that SE is keeping you out of the game until the server load eases out.
    I understand what they are trying to do, but it is a mistake, I'd rather be in game and not being able to do duty's, than be kept out half a day (alternating with my wife, kinda hard to play TOGETHER as the error is not a queue, just a hard lockout) than not being able to log in at all..

    To top it all off, they don't have the courtesy to give us a queue/time, no, we have to keep SPAMMING the freakin thing just to get in.
    I'm sorry, but if the game isn't going to let me in, I'd like to know when it will, how many people I am waiting on etc.. so I can plan around it instead of glued to the screen smacking my login 10 times a minute.

    I love the game, and I feel sorry for Yoshi, but this could have been avoided KNOWING how many pre-order codes went out to plan for that server load, or even limiting the codes.
    Not to mention temporary bars on character creation, to stop people flooding into working servers/datacenters... Just allow people without any characters to jump the restriction.

    But most of all, I would kill for a queue on this 1017, not some "error"
    And it would probably help if they had an afk timer kicking people out.

    I was playing this morning and I LOGGED OUT knowing I may have trouble getting back in, why? Because I'm not an ass, I know the more people stay logged in afk, the less actual people get to play... And people need to do the same, the more people get pissed off they can't login now, the less people we will have to play with in a few months.

    Wishing everyone speedy entry into the game, and personally holding on to my purchase code till the last moment.. 30 days free does me no good if I can't play for most of the day.

    Honestly, I am an insomniac so I hadn't encountered this before. I log out when I'm done playing. Now I'm wondering if that's a bad call.
    -AFK timers
    -Implement Queue.

    To add these two things, even if they had to pull the servers down for awhile altogether, it would help A LOT.
    The psychological torture of just clicking Login (FULL) Login (FULL) over and over is too much.
    I understand the mentality behind the lockouts but this is going to lose them MONEY.

    My district manager always said, "don't give me problems, give me solutions". So I'm hoping they are working on some solutions - like now.
    I mean, if I didn't like this game, I wouldn't be so MAD.
    So if Yoshi is teary, I think he needs to start thinking of solutions - now. Getting teary doesn't help in business, although the sentiment is touching.

    Solutions are widespread here, all over the forums... Even as far out as:

    Because the problems were duty based to begin with (that's where the server stress hit) allow players to enter solo quest instances in groups (that will cut down on the amount of instances formed at once) or allow players to pick up other war/land/hand classes at lvl 10 (not after 10 class quest duty) so that if the duty finder isn't working, people can still go and do something. That would at least ease duty congestion during this release period where most people are playing.

    More direct fixes are; more servers, queue times (don't care how lengthy, I'll wait, I just want to stop clicking and know how long I have to wait for), afk boot timers, 15 minute rolling restarts (with posted ingame warnings) Locking people to a datacenter, so that when JP is down people don't flock to NA/EU and overwhelm them more etc, or even locking character creation for the same reason so people can't jump to other servers (Allow new players to create 1 character etc until the restriction is lifte).

    PLENTY of options out there, I've been clicking for the past hour and a half on "Login" with no success so I would greatly appreciate ANY of the above to make life a little easier before I have to go back to work....

    I am pretty sure this will result in a class action against SE if they can't get it resolved, like it's actually really infuriating.

    At least they are working on it, it shouldn't of happened in the first place.
    I expect bugs and errors, I don't expect a company to lock people out of the game deliberately because they didn't expect soo many people on (which is hard to imagine, as they would know how many pre-order codes were being activated/went out/ or could of limited them)
    Should be fixed within a week or so, for now let's hope they put up some temporary measures instead of Click > fail Click > fail > Click > fail for 2.5 hours straight (for some, far more)

    I get the complaints, I do. I just power through the 1017 personally and end up getting in within an hour. Some people are just not as lucky and do not have the tools to do so. I feel bad for those that have YET to log in at all.
