If everyone who said they are leaving would, then I'd be able to log into the game right now.

NCSoft put in a queuing system that people have been crying out for SE to do, and what happens? Yes, you've got it, all hell broke lose on the official forums and people complained left right and centre how they were so peeved to be sitting in a queue for 7+ hours before they could finally play the game. I would load in the game, get in queue and have a soak in the tub, wash my hair, do the housework, cook dinner, and come back to find that I was still in a queue. If they implement the queuing system here do you think everyone would be satisfied that they're having to queue instead of getting the 1017 error? Hell no, it'll be just another thing that SE are doing wrong.

I've been there with the 1017 errors, have had the 90000 and 10101 errors just like everyone else. I've been a little bit frustrated that I've not been able to create a character on a specific server, but instead of kicking off and being abusive as some have I've just gone away, left it a bit and tried again and eventually I've been able to get in or create a character.

I understand that people are frustrated and that their patience are running thin but honestly some of the posts I've seen are completely unnecessary no matter how frustrated you are, all you'll end up achieving is a ban. I'm happy to wait no matter how frustrating it gets because at the end of it all the servers are going to settle, kids are going to go back to school, for those that took time out from work for the launch, you'll have to return to work at some point, so the server congestion will settle. In the meantime I'm just enjoying what little time I can get logging into the game and patiently waiting for the servers to settle.

And finally, kudos to Yoshi-P for an amazing game
Well said Jessikia. I like your attitude.

All you appologists and lying to yourself. No one is criticizing the game itself, it is absolutely wonderful, which makes the rest of the problems even more unbearable. How does someone or some group who can build something so great, then go to hell in a hand basket? The problemSSSSS are many, and have to do with just about every aspect OTHER than the game itself.

    1. Purchase/Order/Registration Logistics - Their big problem here was they SHOULD of went with 6 codes on 6 websites to register one account, instead of 4. Really, who the hell came up with this horrendous system of numerous codes on numerous websites, all having to be entered by the user (yeah users don't make mistakes), then on top of that there is some weird region issue with these codes (why I have no idea, as anyone, anywhere.. cna play on any server... where the fuck is a seperation of regions other than your convoluted websites that we already pointed out were terrible ideas to begin with?)
    2. Customer Service - Saturday Morning at 5:00am EST I was logging in, or trying to. At 5:15 I was able to get to the character select screen (already got a guy on Leviathan) and went into character creation to roll a name I wanted to reserve. By 5:20 I was done with creation and saw LEVIATHAN LOCKED... really? 20 minutes after launch? For an ALTERNATE CHARACTER? I'M ALREADY ON LEVIATHAN, I CAN'T PLAY BOTH TOONS AT ONCE, SO IT IS ILLOGICAL TO PREVENT CURRENT SUBSCRIBERS FROM MAKING ALT's ON THEIR SERVER! At 5:30am I went to the forums, and was amazed to see 23 customer service reps logged onto the forums (Shows them in a row on the bottom, and yes I counted), however they are apparently here simply to ban people who voice any opinion that they do not agree with (no not me, but I have viewed several posts that resulted in bans and suffice it to say freedom of speech apparently is alien to Japan), there were no announcements, no answers to problems, no consoling the thousands of people who paid for this game and could not play.... nothing. What we did get was a new Twitter account on Saturday Night.... FF_XIV_NA apparently wasn't good enough to tweet updates on, they made FFXIV_NEWS_NA. However, support tickets go unanswered, copy/paste responses are abundant on the announcements and forums and in all of beta 4 and early access and now release, apparently no one at square enix is smart enough to suggest a simple afk check to kick folks smart enough not to log out once they get in.
    3. Networking Department/Designers... what ever you call yourselves.... You knew exactly how many copies of the game were sold, so you knew just how many folks would want to play (AS WELL AS THEIR COUNTRY.... remember useless region errors?) .... so I'm lost... did you not know how many people could play per server or did you get the math wrong? Beta 4 you knew exactly how many invites you sent out, knew exactly how many people registered their beta code.... again... did you not know how many people one server would hold? how many servers it would take to enable those invited to play? I know it is launch, but it seems to me every problem you have had was avoidable...

SO I am back to... HOW does a team design such a wonderful game (the really hard part) and then totally fuck up every aspect of it's release from selling it, registration logistics, support and simple computer networking common sense. And no, Aion was not NEARLY as bad, Queue at least let's you get in line, afk log out makes room for others. The only game that I can think of that had this much trouble with things NOT related to the software was EQ1, and those guys were breaking barriers and building the infrastructure for these games as they went.... and to be honest I never felt they were not doing their best. With SE it is obvious they just don't give a shit, they have not added any NA/EU servers even though they have almost all been locked and unable to support a full load, they have not put in a simply thing like logging off afk players, and they don't care enough to at least hire one guy to post original believable reports of how they are handling the issues, rather than copy paste broad excuses with no hope for improvement.

So yeah, the definition of a clusterfuck.

You think that brand new servers just fall from the server tree in their front yard?

well yeah actually... the tree is called fed ex... the dirt is called Dell... and servers can be grown overnight to Japan from tim-buk-fuckin-too.... again.... stop apologizing for them, it's a clusterfuck, period. They wasted beta, rushed beta, rushed release and now you think they do not have the capacity or money to appropriate extra servers? last weekend in beta 4 they opened many new servers during the weekend due to 3102, 90000 and 1017. Hell they added new servers to Japan, why is that? hell most american players are forced to play on Japan servers, yet they still are not having half the congestion and log in issues the NA servers are having. They added all those new servers last weekend, still could not handle the demand of the players they INVITED TO PLAY, but did they learn and get more servers to prepare for the accounts they already sold and made money off of? Apparently not!

There is one thing I figured out a long time ago. Complaining and threatening to quit the game, does not manifest an instant fix or a cure to problems in MMO launches. Fixes take time. Attaining more hardware takes time. Configuring everything takes time.

SE "should" have handled this launch more smartly, I certainly won't argue that. With the game having come off a humiliating first effort, this should have been treated as a golden child and no risks taken whatsoever. However, they did not. One thing I am certain of, and I'm sure everyone else is as well, is that SE wants this game up and running properly as quickly as possible. If not for us, the players, then for them, and their shareholders at the very least. They don't want this game smeared with negative press once again. I'm sure they are doing everything they can to fix it.

I suppose I may just have more patience than others. I want to play as bad as anyone else though. I just don't think filling the forums with rage is going to solve things any quicker. In a week or two, I'm sure everything will be great and we won't even be thinking of 1017 or 3102. Anyways, just my thoughts on all of the negative posts. People have a right to complain, but complaining doesn't make things go any quicker. They may actually cause more problems if SE responds with shortcut attempts to fix things. Here's hoping all progresses well in the near future.

I seem to remember some quote along the lines of another mistake like FF14 would ruin Square-Enix. Having not been able to play the game I paid money for yet, is a mistake as far I am concerned, and there is no apology of, "Sorry, we are working on it," that magically makes it okay. They saw from the open beta and EA that it was popular. I think some contingency plan should have been in place.

It isn't a matter of patience, it's just consumer rights. If you want to stick with it, that's fine and I hope it works out. I would only like for them to offer a refund at this point for players not happy, which doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

Edit: More reflective of how I feel

Naoki Yoshida didnt expect to have sooo many people to come to final fantasy and thus is why there is massive server problems on EU/NA and to get badmouth and people going overboard of the situation is pretty bad tbh

Now just be patient its only the first day of official release and they r already working on it cause the more stress u give the team the more likely it will take longer to fix due to stress overload
Yoshida can boo-hoo-hoo all he wants in public, but the fact is that SE has not even acknowledged the problem yet to their customers who paid money for the privilege of 1017 ad infinitum. Make a sticky in the Technical Support forum, or put a topic on the list in the launcher so that people can see that you actually care about your customers. I played FFXI from day one, and never got hit with anything like 1017, 90000, or 3102 - and half the time I played that game I was on 56K. Ten years later, with a comp that gets 7000+ on high settings, and an 80/35 mbps connection, I get 90000/3102 all over the place during beta 3/4, and now on release day, 1017gate. Unbelievable.
