The last game I played that had a launch like this was Rift, and they attempted to fix it by opening up more servers. 2 months down the line all but 2 servers were virtually dead with everyone yelling at trion to merge servers.

The game will die down after a week and all the new servers would be barren and terrible to play on so thank you SE for not opening up new servers.

Do I think they are handling the situation well? No. But that still doesn't mean new servers are the answer and they should be applauded for not opening up new servers at least. What they need to do is enable auto-kick on idle and institute a queue. But I think everyone already knows that.
