Playing multiple chars on same account

So, I am trying to figure out how exactly we can do this and getting very more and more frustrated after spending 2hrs of research. According to SQEX:

Windows only: To play three characters simultaneously
    - A Square Enix account
    - A copy of the Windows version
    - Three registration codes obtained from the product or the "FINAL FANTASY XIV Service Center"
*You can register up to eight registration codes per Square Enix account
I can't find any information on where to buy those registration code, on the mog station nothing points to being able to do that.

The only thing I can see is the ability to create multiple service accounts, but you have to actually buy the game again. So why bother saying :
    - A copy of the Windows version
when you would actually need one copy per service account.

Can a mod please come and clarify this?

    Thanks

Technically you only need one copy of the software. I'm pretty sure you need multiple service accounts to play multiple characters simultaneously.

When I first read about this feature I saw it as: SE was gonna implement a way to launch the FFXIV.exe multiple times(and have them all running at the same time) on one PC w/o using a third party app. So you would still need to buy the game three times to get the product code(maybe purchase the product code only at a discount from SE store), then link all product codes to one SE account. Then use the official Square Enix feature to launch all three game clients at the same time on one PC.

Given the rough launch SE is faced with at the moment, this sort of thing may not be implemented or clarified for a few weeks.

Buying a registration code IS buying a copy of the game. They are the same thing.

Yes you can have more then 1 active ffxiv account on a SE account.
each FFxiv account requires its own registration code found either in PC, PS3 or digital version.
Although you only need 1 copy of the game installed each copy only comes with one code with that 1 code depending on what lv of service you buy you can make
multiple chars for that 1 FFxiv account but they can not be logged in at the same time.
So to log in with 2 chars at once you must have 2 registered FFxiv accounts they can both be on the same SE account or on seperate ones it doesn't mater
SE is only saving you the issue of having 2 different logins is all.

Also about dual boxing on the pc yes you can run 2 instances at once as long as there 2 different FFxiv accounts once one is open just open another instance and sign in
if on same SE account it asks on log in what one you want to log in.

So to sum it up yes you must buy the game for each FFxiv account you want open at the same time.
