Cross Hotbar resetting when you change stance?

I'm having problems getting my Cross Hotbar to behave in a manner that's cohesive and intuitive.

When I enable Hotbar customization for in or out of stance, it causes my hotbar to change whenever my character switches stances, regardless of whether or not the hotbar is enabled for that stance.

For example, I'll have it set up that Hotbar 1, 2 and 3 can be toggled to both in and out of stance... but whenever my character changes stance the hotbar switches back to #1... even if I'm in a stance that it set to be available both in and out of stance.

I want to set it up that hotbars 1, 2 and 3 can be selected when my weapon is unsheathed and hotbars 1, 2, 3 and 8 can be selected while my weapon sheathed. But I don't want the bar to automatically change back to #1 whenever my character sheathes or unsheathes her weapon.

    Can anyone help?

    Hello,

As there is a bit of confusion as to why the cross hotbar reverts back to set 1 from other selected sets when using options for when your weapon is drawn, Hiroshi Minagawa has provided some insight into new settings that will be added to the configuration.

[■] Enable customization for when weapon is drawn

We will be adding the below settings when you check the above setting, and it will be possible to select the sets that are used when switching between sheathed and drawn states.

[■] Sets automatically switch when sheathing or drawing your weapon.

In order to preserve the current controls, the default setting for this will be on, but by unchecking this to turn this setting off it will make it so sets do not automatically switch when you sheathe and draw your weapon.

While the work for the addition of only the above feature would not take very long, there have been a number of additions and modifications to the cross hotbar in the latest development version of the game, and as such we will be releasing this in patch 2.1.

We'll be making this adjustment along with the implementation of various other UI features in patch 2.1

I apologize for the inconvenience until then, and we appreciate your understanding.

I'd like to understand why you need your hotbars to switch dependent on stance.. I can't think of a reason I would use it...

Clue me in please as I might be missing something good...

Likely to provide easier access/bar space for non-combat actions (Chocobo, emotes, minions, class quick select etc). Presumably if your weapon is sheathed you are not in combat. That's my immediate thoughts anyway

I use this feature and it's really helpful actually. Basically I have it set up so that I can cycle through all the hotbars when out of combat (weapon sheathed), and only the first three hotbars when in combat (weapon drawn). I set all my in combat stuff to the first three hotbars. Skills / actions on the first two, and potions etc on hotbar 3.

Because I use a gamepad I press RB to cycle through the hotbars. During battle it's very helpful to be able to cycle through just the three that are relevant to combat. Of course if I'm out of combat and on another hotbar, then I suddenly get attacked, I can draw my weapon and be switched immediately to the first combat hotbar automatically which is very useful and helps me not to panic!

Hope that makes sense. Give it a try, you may like it.

To OP, I understand that your problem is the fact you are switched even if the current hotbar is allowed in both stances. I think the idea of it switching to the first hotbar is based on the presumption that you most important skills for combat will be on hotbar 1. As described above, this works really well for me to be switched automatically when starting combat, as I would be switching to the first hotbar manually each time I start battle anyway. That said, we all have different play styles and hopefully the proposed solution from Hiroshi will work for you.

When your weapon is away you are not in combat, if you are not in combat do you need quick access to a combat ability or would you like for say all your travel abilities to be present.

I'm guessing it's more for gamepad users. I just use 3 hotbars (36 slots) for everything. Besides, with BRD, it's useful to have all abilities present, even if weapon isn't drawn.

Wow, didn't expect anyone to respond to this, let alone a rep. Glad to hear this is coming.

Yes, it is a "gamepad only" feature.

I see responses here for people using a gamepad and hope you can help me?

Hi guys, I have been looking for a thread where anyone mentions problems they have using a game pad on a pc, with no luck. While reading this a couple of you mention that you use a game pad, so I wondered if you had any problems using one?

I use an Xbox 360 pad on a pc, usually with no problems and actually during the FF XIV beta testing, I had no problems using that same setup either. However since we went live 2 different pads have developed a life of their own.

Continued in next post due to post size restrictions.
