the worst part of it all is that i submitted a ticket and they won't answer back :S and no official response to the issue either.

Having this same problem. This seems like an extremely poor way to treat people who've been around since 1.0 and are giving you a 2nd chance.
I ordered the digital CE from amazon, went to add it to my account and ended up with a 2nd service account. Amazon is saying they don't give refunds for digital downloads, so I'm out of luck there.
There was a support page where you could go if you accidentally added a service account, and request they be merged, which I did... but I'm not holding out hope. They really need to fix this somehow, and make it right. Telling people who've ALREADY bought a collectors edition that they're SOL and need to give you ANOTHER $20 to get what they already paid for is unacceptable.
I believe the digital version works in 1.0 accounts (someone already posted how to do it), its the physical box that has the problems.
That's great that they put that notice on the site that launched a month or so ago. I still ordered my CE back in May. In addition, it doesn't say anywhere that if I buy the physical CE for PC I can't apply the code to my standard account.from their web page listing all the pricing options for the different versions of the game. If people stopped to read about the different versions, as in find out why there are 9 different versions of the game to buy, we wouldn't have this problem to begin with.

** The Collector's Edition digital upgrade offers customers the ability to upgrade their standard FFXIV account to digital Collector's Edition status via the “FFXIV Service Center” website that is scheduled to be opened at the launch of official service, which then grants the in-game bonus items included with the Collector's Edition. Customers in possession of the Collector's Edition for either version 1.0 or A Realm Reborn will receive these Collector's Edition items without needing to purchase the upgrade.
Bolded the problem with the product description. Like mentioned before, only place I know where the issue with old accounts was ever officially brought up to the public was in the 1.0 forums.

Considering that apart from customer support, forum writers like me are the ones notifying people of the issue, it was just poor communication and a predictable problem that beta testers mentioned before.
This, this, this, this. ^^^^
no, to my knowledge this issue has to do with all registration codes in PC CE versions. unless they changed it without notifying us.
But if you have a link to this let me know, I will update OP to reflect this news.
If some people are getting through they are either using the digital account upgrade (maybe calling it digital download by mistake) or just dropping their old account to start a new service.
Or still, using the PS3 CE digital download and linking their old account to the new one created for PS3.
There are people with standard accounts created during the early access that could not register the CE code, or registered it wrong and made a second account instead.
Those guys should now be getting fixes or a clear explanation on how to register it correctly.

Maybe I misread than.....this is a bigger problem than just physical boxes than. I don't know why we can't get an official answer.no, to my knowledge this issue has to do with all registration codes in PC CE versions. unless they changed it without notifying us.
