Reminds me of the days of early WoW. Oh how I got annoyed. Frustrated and angry and threatening the dead air for they don't care no matter how hard I wanted their dead bodies displayed for their fellow spammers to see and fear.

Then came the lovely block/spam option.

Yes SE. Give us this. At least then some people stress levels will be lower. XD

People very often /shout for help finding things in zones and even more people /shout back answers. With your system, someone with a question wouldn't even be able to say thank you to the people offering answers and would very likely get /shouts disabled by the end of the day. Might as well not have a /shout option at all.

Or if you send /tells to a friend where you do more of the talking (like explaining game concepts or a dungeon mechanic) you would be flagged as a possible rmt because of the imbalance? I'm all for finding solutions to stop gil sellers, but those solutions must have no effect on legit players. I would rather put up with gil seller's spam then have my /shouts and /tells limited.

    RMT on the rise

IT's said that Gill doesnt have value but thats not entirely true and the very reason these RMT's are on the rise!
Have you seen the prices on items on the board 6K up and it takes weeks to make like 10K.
Also the reporting tool needs a major upgrade because it is too difficult to use while playing the game!
It should auto populate the Server, Area, & Time!
All we should do is type in a name of the player and select from a list what what they did!
Also if it was possible they should have a direct approach by right clicking the name of the tell or shout or a dedicated button on a game pad to just select from a list of violations so the message is directly sent to the help desk!

Well, yes and no. This system is already in place and working. It's called TCP/IP. The idea is that it length doesn't need to be 50/50. The idea is that there is a response. It's the same model networks try to use to mitigate DDOS attacks.

As for the shouts, the idea isn't perfect. It's just an idea. The numbers can be tweaked. But I think most would agree. Sitting in town to hear 50 shouts asking for events can be just as annoying as the same rate of shouts for selling gil.

I was just reminded from my college that some of their servers cannot be accessed by ip's that belong to hosting companies or data centers. Maybe we can limit request of new accounts and new character creations from ip's that are not from ISP's.

In a way I kind of wish there was an option to turn off the chat for situations like these. Instead of having to fill up the blacklist option so quick.

Here's an idea, kill the problem at the root, ban the brainless people who are lazy and buy from the gil sellers, if there wasn't a demand for it the gil sellers wouldn't be there, simple but also common sense, most places are meant to be in a state of hardship money wise, don't seem it when people blow loads of money on gil than playing the game to earn it

Couldn't you just add "Report" to the context menu (along with send tell and etc.) and if so many reports are initiated within a given amount of time, the user is suspended until the infractions are investigated?

I mean think about it, it would be easy for a gil seller to get 30 reports in a 60 second period.. and if any normal players got that many.. well it had to be something that offended many players.

    Seems easy enough.

This task force they mentioned and the 500 people they banned. there's about a hundred servers at 5 people each... yeah they sure stuck it to them.. meanwhile i have a blacklist up to 76 player names now on ONE server and its always the same websites they mention. so if they want to brag about banning gil sellers, atm they need to have about 7600 accounts.... 76 for each server....

I dont think the gms actually play this game, i bet it is just some outsourced company that reads out concerns via email.. and presses a generate same generic response button.

If they really were on the game too it wouldn't take them 5 seconds to read the shout spam and tear gil sellers to peices. Same with the random whisps, one whisp to a gm about buying gil off their website: BANNED.

How hard would it be to hire a guy for each server just to sit there and warp around towns, or are they admitting that the game isn't enough fun to play themselves?
