How can we get Gil sellers banned?

The Gil sellers are already starting with the spam in-game. These scum-sucking maggots are relentless and the spam is being /shouted nearly constantly. While it is possible to add them to the Black List, you have to do this manually.

Can we please get an in-game mechanism put into place for quick reporting of spammers? Like right-click on their name, and click on "Report for spamming". If the system gets a large number of these reports, it should be able to automatically block further /shouts until manual review can be performed.

Also, the spammers are using formats like "www,ff14goldmall,com" which the system should be able to spot and block immediately, particularly after the exact same character string has been broadcast five times. Yes, the spammers can try to work around this, but it takes work and anything we can do to make their lives miserable is a Good Thing.

Finally, after review, can we please permo-ban these disgusting people and their IP addresses? And their credit cards? And every SE account affiliated with them? And then throw their bodies to the annoyed masses in the centers of the cities, where in a FATE we can all enjoy ripping their pathetic carcasses into shreds for fun and profit?

Thank you, and have a pleasant day.

Gil Sellers are also taking up slots that legitimate players could use for actually playing the game. Getting them banned ASAP would help as I've already seen groups of them out PL'ing etc.

    Reporting spammers as "Harassment"

I've been cut and pasting the spam text in the game into a trouble ticket, under the "Report Harassment" option. There is no option for spamming, but clogging up the /shout channel with their TOS-violating crap is harassment. I encourage everyone to report every spammer you see, no matter how many others may report it. The more reports, the more info they have to get the account shut down ASAP.

And while I hate the spammers, I want them to waste as much real-world money as possible buying subscriptions and then getting banned with no refund. I want that money to go to buying more servers

It's beyond me why SE would not implement the same antispam measures they put in FFXI in FFXIV. Even if they felt the game's monetary system would deter gil buying and selling, it doesn't hurt to be proactive just in case.

    Hello everyone!

We are glad you are having fun playing FINAL FANTASY and we are sorry that the Real Money Trading shouts have already begun.

If you should see any of these types of shouters, you are free to place a GM Call through the System Menu. As we do not have an option to directly report these spammers to us, we ask you choose the "Harassment" option in the Support Desk menu.

We ask that you include the name of the shouter along with a sample of what they had said. The GM staff will then receive your call and address the spamming; we will be sending you a message instead of offering a live contact to ensure your game play is not interrupted.

We are looking into methods to directly report them to us without using the Support Desk system, but we ask for you to bear with us until we get the tools developed. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and we will continue to work with you to stop this type of violation as quickly as possible.

We will go ahead and leave this thread open as we look forward to hearing more ideas on how to combat this issue. Please note, though, if any posts violate our Term of Service, the post may be removed and action may need to be taken; please keep the replies constructive.

Thank you, again, for your continued support. Good luck and have a fun time!

    Hello,

Some ideas I can think of involve rate of /shouts and /tells a player can do. Legitimate /tell's will almost always have a back and forth with someone. If the amount of /tells they send doesn't come close to the amount of /tell's received from the person they /tell'ed, make the account.

/Shout's can be sometime similar. But the rate/amount of shouts can have an growing allow rate. i.e. shout once, have to wait 5 minutes. Shout again, have to 10 minutes. If the amount of shouts per account reaches a certain number per real day, shout is disabled for the rest of the day and the account is flagged.

It'd also be handy to have a server that pulls chat logs (snmp?) of /tells and/or /shouts nightly and parses it. With that, and a regex command, you can get a good amount of player names to mark for investigation for banning.

Of course, the best way to deal with this is to find the accounts that hold the gil that's being sold and ban them. That's just manual investigation work >.<

Last few days I've started getting direct whispers with this spam, so I have to keep blacklisting the person doing it. Getting annoying.
