But this is a mess plain and simple. I don't know what the actual server capacity is, but the last time I looked when I saw people on my server having issues getting in was 1000. I find that insulting that you have it capped that low when modern databases are capable of a great deal more, at least twice that. SQL Community edition can handle 2000 concurrent connections before it even starts to show signs of instability.

Maybe Luminous is more Power Hungry than I give it credit and that's why... but regardless, you should have had backup servers waiting to come online in case of a capacity issue.


Limiting all the logins and character creations is going to put you right back in to the same position that 1.0 was in. Except this time it's not because of an inept designer. It's because your Technical lead didn't have the foresight to think ahead and consider capasity issues, bandwidth issues and Plan for these things accordingly.
