But we need to have some consequences for losing the battles. In Besieged, the monsters would come in, whip us, then leave the town the way they found it. Sure they'd capture NPCs, and take the thing that gave us an exp bonus, but there was no...damage, y'know?

Let's make it so when the monsters win, the town is in shambles, and make it up to us to protect the town til it can be rebuilt.

Or something like that.
