Game goes to black screen then restores with frame lag

As the title says, randomly the game will go to a black screen with only the mouse pointer showing. When the black screen returns my entire computer slows down until I exit out of the game. Here are my specs just in-case:

GTX 660
AMD FX-8350
12gb ram

Also running dual-monitors in the case that it may be relevant. I've used drivers 314.22, 320.49, and 326.41 and none of them fix this problem.

I don't think that'd work since Jay_Demedrian and myself are using only one graphics card and are having the same problem. Maybe there's a problem with Nvidia drivers and FFXIV?

Since I've experianced this too, and I have a single ATI 5870, it's a bug with the game engine I suspect.

Are you all getting this error in Borderless? or does the resolution not matter?

I've noticed a few times when frames would randomly drop even in small areas.

a lot of people are having this issue, i myself too.
really starting to bug. random times it would just go black (from 15 minutes to 1.5hours) and i would have to restart my computer.

plus, after restarting. try to log in: character still logged in, please try again later.
