Guys, don't get carried away so much ....

You are making up stuff without any reason and then get disappointed when the patch hits. It wouldn't be too bad, but lots of people will start whining at Square Enix again when their made up things are not implemented.

Give it a few more hours. We will know more soon enough. I am looking forward to it, but already talking about riding or even training chocobos is a bit too much I think. I will be more than happy if I am proven wrong, just giving a heads up to avoid disappointment and more whines towards Square Enix and the dev team.

I somewhat agree, I still don't think we'll see chocobos for players to ride until ishgard is ever opened up. Other than that though i'm still damned excited for this patch....of course it would be the day I won't be able to log on until late >.<.

Also, what else do you expect us to do? They released a page with literally NO information on how Companies work. They gave a nice picture though that REALLY emphasized the use of chocobos in an army however. I think that's reason enough to believe they're going to be used that way, sometime soon. Waiting this long to announce them like this makes sense too if they're directly involved in GCs..

This is exactly what I mean. They said that they will release more information about the Grand Companies just before patch 1.17 hits. That is exactly what they did. They never said they would exactly tell you how the whole Grand Company system was going to work. That was made up by you and other players .... That is exactly what Evenstar is getting at they never said they would give us any specific information, you and other's have added 1+1 and got a moogle. tsk tsk.

I'm not even sure companies are being introduced in this patch due to the delay because of the problems in Japan. I'm not sure why you're so upset...

I am in no position to tell you not to discuss or have hopes and dreams. I am discussing as well, but some of the people are really getting carried away. This will result in them being disappointed once again when the patch hits and that will result in more negative topics on the forums. Which is not a good thing for the game or the community.

My post was not aimed at anyone directly, but in general. I would love to see chocobos in the patch. I would jump of joy if we can breed or train them or even start crafting some armor for them, but I do not think it will happen. Some people here are expecting way too much, while the patch notes and Yoshi both already confirmed that 1.17 was to prepare for the Grand Companies. If you read some posts above they act like the whole thing will get implemented right away.

Again, I am not saying to not discuss. I am just warning that some of you will get disappointed and start crying again when they see the content of 1.17 is not what they expected it to be. I seriously hope I am wrong and patch 1.17 is way more than what I expect.

Grand Companies are something that they've been talking about for ages. They said a long time ago they had something better planned for Chocobos. Maybe they were just waiting until now to introduce them because they fit right in with how the Grand Company system works?

Don't gotta recap me(thx though), i'm from Alpha, but i'm sure they intentionally hold off on a few systems because of timing & balance.

For instance, there are probably things they could be adding(ex: auto-attack), but they need to lay the groundwork for the bigger changes first.
