Best starting class/area to learn the game?

For those of us who are truly new?

Honestly? It makes 0 difference. The main story quests are the same besides dialogue. Just pick which class you'd prefer to play as.

If you don't like it so much, don't sweat it. The main scenario takes you to the other starting cities at around lvl15, and if you've kept up with your class quests you'll be able to pick up any other class you may fancy instead.

Agreed...the main story/starting off quests will get you familiar with the game so it makes 0 difference where you start off. It's more important to pick a class you like to play.

    for the most part..i agree.

The only thing i'll add...is that from my time in beta, and being locked out of servers because of tech problems etc...i learned one advantage.

i made three alts. each character starting in a different city. the only advantage i had was knowing my way around the cities when it was finally time to use my main character! until lvl 5 in ANY city...all the quest are pretty much intro and tutorial to teach you basics and show you around.

So if you only do them in one city...you wont really miss out per say. the cities are easy enough to learn. So like the others said, pick your fav and go!
You'll end up in all the cities by doing story quest anyway

I found that Limsa Salominsa is the easiest city to walk and remember things, where the other two I'm lost almost all time. Also the quests are concentrated more on lower and east maps around it.

    That's my opinion.
