Hell, even if support verifies your legitimate, unused key and applies the CE rewards to your account.

It's possible they may do something like this, but given the existing server issues and the fact that a massive wave of people are going to be logging on the first time today, they might just not have the resources to fulfill the CE support requests right away, so they're outright rejecting them until an announcement can be made. To be fair, aside from the helm, the CE rewards are largely cosmetic and not overly important (though I understand that of course, people want the stuff they paid for).

For me, it's wanting the stuff I paid for. They certainly didn't make it obvious that buying a CE with a v1.0 account would cause this problem. It wouldn't be SQEX without some ridiculously horrendous account management system that requires 10 codes, 4 accounts, a keychain code token, and several vials of blood.
