    Different Server Types

    Let's try this again shall we?

    Perhaps SE, in their infinite wisdom, should look into the possibility of creating different kinds of servers for different players. These servers could have different rule-sets, levelling curves, whatever.

    Not everyone wants the same thing, and yet many people want to play what they consider FFXIV.

    Many people like the current battle system, many don't.

    Many people want PvP, many don't.

    Many people want aggro-indicators, many people deem them a disgrace upon all things holy.

    Perhaps SE could try for once to look at maintaining their different playerbases, rather than alientating them.

    we done this one already didnt we

    splitting battle system styles would crush the game. Ok, we would easily know which servers would work best, but new comers who click on a random server may not be so lucky. Also, that would mean future patches would not apply to some servers, players would miss out and feel cheated.

    There is no pvp in this game. Tbh, I see little reason for it anyway as all cities are in good standing with each other.

    Yes, you do have a point on this one. however, why not simply have an option: indicators on/off. Setting up entire servers just for indicator options would be a bit overkill

    then again gifthorse, this require a SERIUS pvp. That's mean, ffxiv will not have free ganking in the open, yoshida already said they will not permit killing other people.And if open pvp can't exist, but only instanced or events (in every case consensual), every server it's just the same. thread over

    Heya!

    I like the idea to have every playerbase to play the style they want, but for now I think this is completely antiproductive.
    Doing that now or after the PS3 release would mean:

    - Changing typology of the server, constraining the players to go away from it and changing it (thanks to a free character transfer);

    - If players get away from the server, the Linkshell in that server will be unbalanced, if not extinct or redone;

    - The playerbases will be even more alienated each other;

    - Some servers will have even fewer population, leaving any choice at the player but to play in a good-populated server where he doesn't like the playstyle.

    And so on, and so forth.
    I don't think this is a problem anyway. If people want to play what they consider FFXIV they should post more suggestions about how they think about the game in the forums.
    The Battle system is getting a revamp, so who likes it now may not like it in the future.
    If there's gonna be a PvP it will be some kind of Arena. I can't see a free-roaming PvP in FFXIV.
    If you don't like the aggro indicator, just disable it.

    In conclusion, I think this is not an argument to be discussed right now, as the game is still under development and the elements needed in order to justify this option are really few.

    See ya!

    Sound like it'd be more work than its worth from their side, updating individual servers every patch would be a nightmare.

    I agree. There should be "Easy","Normal" and "Hardcore" servers. A lot of regular games have these modes, so why not do it for mmorpgs.
