It would be great to know that even if the transfers are coming at the scheduled time, that we would have a free transfer option. I have a few friends that are still intent on playing but it's not fair to force them to pay for a transfer or wait until the issue is fixed to play the game they have been waiting a long time for.
Right now I don't see what good a server transfer will do. It seems like every NA server and maybe all of EU are clogged as well every night. I thought it would be great to have it now too, but I think too many of us like the game than they planned on lol
Probably so lol. However the server I want to go to is most of the time open for new characters, so why not let my non new character take a new characters spot? It would make my life soooo much easier :P lol.
A server transfer now would be silly but after the server number and capacity is gotten a handle on it would be nice for us to be able to play with our friends. Their server has been locked since EA and being 1.0 we had beta but not EA...so we are on another server.
I have a group of about 8 friends. We are all scattered on different servers and unable to play together. They announced PAID transfers coming in mid September... Uh, we JUST BOUGHT the game, and we can't even play with our friends, so you're making us pay a fee in order to do so?
This is ridiculous, I really think they should give out a one time free server transfer after they have everything under control.
Signed, stamped, endorsed, et cetera!
I understand that MMO launches suck. I've been through my fair share of "HOLY SHIT THE HAMSTERS ARE DEAD" launch nights/days/weeks. I also understand that companies cannot usually afford to invest in resources (e.g. more hamsters) that they may not actually require. What I don't understand is how the companies tend to handle the problem.
There have been some game teams that constantly update the news page, post on their forums, and so forth; they apologize for their mistakes and do everything they can to reassure the player base that fixes are coming as soon as possible. It can, at times, turn to a form of grovelling (which is awful and unnecessary, for the record), but appealing to your customers has been a standard business practice as long as there have been business practices. (Continued!)
When companies like Square Enix - that is; large, established, well-known and well-liked - display such a failure to communicate readily with the people that are giving them money, it makes me question their dedication to the game.
I don't want immediate server transfers, even. What I want is a more open line of communication between developer and consumer, because the tone of the current news posts is nothing but cold and makes me feel quite unloved. Obviously I need to feel loved. ;P
SE is currently at work with expanding their NA/EU data centers and expects the process to be complete by early next week. This is to circumvent the massive number of login requests. I assume that once these issues are resolved, character creation and login restrictions should be lifted from these servers.
Tell your friends to be patient until then.
I've already gotten a few of my friends to create their characters on the same new server. Things are better now (they LOVE the game, so it's not AS important), but I still need to get over there to start my FC. :/ Aye, I guess things will happen when they happen.SE is currently at work with expanding their NA/EU data centers and expects the process to be complete by early next week.
