Hopelessly confused... where do these 'Digital Rights' codes go?

So, I am a 1.0 returning player. I purchased the ARR digital CE for the bonuses and the Early Access (yeeeeah).

Overnight, I got mail with two codes labeled 'Digital Rights', but no instructions whatsoever on what to do with them, where to register them, whether I need to at all (I purchased from the SE store). I got my Pre-Order bonuses over moogle mail yesterday, but I've not received my CE items, and I see folks running around with them all over, so I am guessing it's possible to redeem them.

    This is what I got:

Digital Rights: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
    XXXXXX-123-XXXXXX-456

Based on what I read on other posts, I went to the Mog Station. I see no option to 'Redeem Code', I see 'Enter Bonus Code'. But when I enter the first serial I got, it says it's invalid. I went to the Square Enix members page, entered the second code, and it also says it's invalid. It only gives me the option to upgrade to the Digital CE, but it asks me to pay; no option to just enter a code I already have.

Is there some issue with 1.0 players (non-Legacy) being unable to redeem these codes? And if not, where do I go? This is honestly absurdly complicated.

Maybe in SE logic... but honestly, the lack of clarity is astounding. Look at the information on that website. Notice that unlike Legacy players, who get Early Access, and new players, who get Early Access, you, the returning 1.0 players get neither unless they make a purchase (and if the information being given here is accurate, they COULD NOT get Early Access at all and not encounter this problem in some form or registering a code for a console they might not even own). How is it logical that a second-tier returning customer is ineligible for perks that a brand-new player gets without registering a second account? If the upgrade had been available AND granted early access from the get-go, I'd concede that point. But it didn't. Apparently, SE cannot fathom how a returning 1.0, non-Legacy player might want to play with friends during Early Access.

    Which is absurd.

But that aside... the support page is 404'ing on me, and in-game reporting seems to be disabled. How can I even contact Support for this thing? This is getting out of hand. =P

If you bought the PC CE, digital or not, you cannot use it. You already have a PC code by having 1.0.

...really? That does not seem logical. So, if a 1.0 player bought the game to get the CE items and the pre-order bonuses, they can't get the perks on the same account at all? Why wouldn't they warn you about this when you purchase? Surely there's a workaround.

I was able to put in the first line of code after pressing little button called 'Add Platform' or something on the Account Services page!

But my account didn't have 1.0 status so it must be different from yours! ヽ(●゚´Д`゚●)ノ゚

You could try and ask the SE customer service, they sent me a reply within a day when I had questions!

Afaik the only way for a standard 1.0 account to get the CE items is either invest in the PS3 copy or upgrade with the digital upgrade option (not repurchase the entire digital copy), which from what I've seen so far, hasn't yet been put up for use.

At least I haven't yet seen it available, others may have found the option already but I'm unsure.

Yeah, I suppose I'll contact customer service and see if they can get it sorted, or swap the code for one that actually lets me upgrade my account. It's kind of crazy that they wouldn't, you know... warn you about any of this in advance, but I can't say I'm entirely surprised about anything SE anymore. What's the best way to get an answer from support in y'all's experience? I suspect it'll be another odyssey to find a way to contact them directly using this labyrinthine website.

Ah, they did throw a notice/warning up about it on the store page [here] (Click important notices at the bottom of the page and read the Collector's Edition Digital Upgrade Service blurb).

But in terms of contacting support, being in the EU myself I usually speak to them via webchat during working hours as its much faster to get a response. You can email and/or call them, I'm trying to grab the page link for you to use but at the moment support page is having issues

You're correct, it doesn't mention/forbid you from using the CE digital code but this bit here:

The Collector's Edition digital upgrade offers customers the ability to upgrade their standard FFXIV account to digital Collector's Edition status
Says to me that in order to actually get the CE perks, you need to upgrade your standard account using the upgrade option, not the full purchase option; hell it even gives you the upgrade price in the pricing box too:

Collector's Edition Digital Upgrade** (Requires Base Game) £14.99
In buying the full purchase option you're essentially buying another service account, I know it sucks and a bit convoluted but they did mention it multiple times on the beta forum in the purchase queries thread

Oh bugger. My PC retail CE came today which I've opened due to wanting to watch the DVD. IMO SE need to allow us to be able to apply codes to old accounts due to no warning about this on SE's pre-order site. If I knew I would have thought twice about buying it and got the upgrade instead. I got the retail CE for the physical items, early access and to show my support to SE. Besides this I'm really enjoying the game.

Sorry but nowhere does it state in the important notices regarding applying full CE codes on to standard accounts. Most of it is about playing cross platforms. It does mention the upgrading to CE but like I stated nowhere does it forbid using full CE codes.

    Important Notices
Please keep the following in mind when pre-ordering or purchasing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn

Play Cross-Platform with Windows PC & PlayStation 3 Users

FFXIV: A Realm Reborn is available on both Windows PC and PlayStation 3, and players from both versions will be able to play together regardless of the version they purchase!
Logging into the Same Account on both Windows and PlayStation 3
It is possible to play with the same account on both Windows and PlayStation 3 platforms. Customers who own a copy of FFXIV for Windows and wish to use their account on the PlayStation 3 version will need to purchase a copy of the PlayStation 3 version. It will then be possible to use your characters on either platform by tying your existing service account to the PlayStation 3 version upon launching it for the first time. Similarly, customers who own a copy of FFXIV for PlayStation 3 and wish to use their account on the Windows version will need to purchase a copy of the Windows version. However, please note that your account will only be able to log into one platform at a time.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn for the PlayStation 3

Multiple copies of FFXIV: A Realm Reborn for PlayStation 3 may be registered to a Sony Entertainment Network account. Please note that only one Sony Entertainment Network account can be linked to a Square Enix account, which allows up to eight service accounts.

    Collector's Edition Digital Upgrade Service

The Collector's Edition digital upgrade offers customers the ability to upgrade their standard FFXIV account to digital Collector's Edition status via the “FFXIV Service Center” website that is scheduled to be opened at the launch of official service, which then grants the in-game bonus items included with the Collector's Edition. Customers in possession of the Collector's Edition for either version 1.0 or A Realm Reborn will receive these Collector's Edition items without needing to purchase the upgrade.
Edit: Just wanted to add it's no issue for me due to my daughter wanting to play the game. I can upgrade my account and give my other code to my daughter. I hope SE can get it sorted for others who have not got this option.
