If you bought the PC CE, digital or not, you cannot use it. You already have a PC code by having 1.0.

...really? That does not seem logical. So, if a 1.0 player bought the game to get the CE items and the pre-order bonuses, they can't get the perks on the same account at all? Why wouldn't they warn you about this when you purchase? Surely there's a workaround.

It seems very logical that you can't register the PC version twice to the same account.
You can get it if you register a PS3 version to your 1.0 PC version.
Oh bugger. My PC retail CE came today which I've opened due to wanting to watch the DVD. IMO SE need to allow us to be able to apply codes to old accounts due to no warning about this on SE's pre-order site. If I knew I would have thought twice about buying it and got the upgrade instead. I got the retail CE for the physical items, early access and to show my support to SE. Besides this I'm really enjoying the game.
Sorry but nowhere does it state in the important notices regarding applying full CE codes on to standard accounts. Most of it is about playing cross platforms. It does mention the upgrading to CE but like I stated nowhere does it forbid using full CE codes.Ah, they did throw a notice/warning up about it on the store page [here] (Click important notices at the bottom of the page and read the Collector's Edition Digital Upgrade Service blurb).
But in terms of contacting support, being in the EU myself I usually speak to them via webchat during working hours as its much faster to get a response. You can email and/or call them, I'm trying to grab the page link for you to use but at the moment support page is having issues
Edit: Just wanted to add it's no issue for me due to my daughter wanting to play the game. I can upgrade my account and give my other code to my daughter. I hope SE can get it sorted for others who have not got this option.Important Notices
Please keep the following in mind when pre-ordering or purchasing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn
Play Cross-Platform with Windows PC & PlayStation 3 Users
FFXIV: A Realm Reborn is available on both Windows PC and PlayStation 3, and players from both versions will be able to play together regardless of the version they purchase!
Logging into the Same Account on both Windows and PlayStation 3
It is possible to play with the same account on both Windows and PlayStation 3 platforms. Customers who own a copy of FFXIV for Windows and wish to use their account on the PlayStation 3 version will need to purchase a copy of the PlayStation 3 version. It will then be possible to use your characters on either platform by tying your existing service account to the PlayStation 3 version upon launching it for the first time. Similarly, customers who own a copy of FFXIV for PlayStation 3 and wish to use their account on the Windows version will need to purchase a copy of the Windows version. However, please note that your account will only be able to log into one platform at a time.
FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn for the PlayStation 3
Multiple copies of FFXIV: A Realm Reborn for PlayStation 3 may be registered to a Sony Entertainment Network account. Please note that only one Sony Entertainment Network account can be linked to a Square Enix account, which allows up to eight service accounts.
Collector's Edition Digital Upgrade Service
The Collector's Edition digital upgrade offers customers the ability to upgrade their standard FFXIV account to digital Collector's Edition status via the “FFXIV Service Center” website that is scheduled to be opened at the launch of official service, which then grants the in-game bonus items included with the Collector's Edition. Customers in possession of the Collector's Edition for either version 1.0 or A Realm Reborn will receive these Collector's Edition items without needing to purchase the upgrade.
No worries, your post was fine![]()
