Yes, you are wrong. Cars need to be broken in because you are talking about moving parts and, among other things, you need to let the lubrication move through the whole system.

Servers are not the same thing.
While servers should be tested, given the same programs and the same load they should be working the same at 5000 hours as at 50 hours. If they are having component failure they should be getting them changed.
