JP get's notice of additional servers

They announced that the US/EU servers have big configuration options. Until they knock those out there is no point in adding more servers. Therefore they did announce what they are doing. It just wasn't what you wanted to hear so you're essentially putting hands over your ears and acting like they never said anything. Servers aren't so easy that you can just slap a few extra machines on and the problem is solved. Chill the heck out people.

Why would they possibly set up the US/EU servers with different configurations than the JP servers? That makes absolutely no sense. Yes, they are different data centers, and yes the are in different parts of the world but it is still set up and run by the same company for the same game. You mean to sit there and say that they happened to configure the JP servers perfectly correctly so that they can just add servers to alleviate the problem, but they did a sloppy job on the NA/EU servers so they have to be "fixed" first before they can consider adding new servers to help? If that was really the case, then it totally justifies all the people screaming about SE favoritism and racism.

On topic, I would like assurance that the NA/EU population will get a permanent server fix but SE hasn't given us that assurance in their official announcements.

This is discrimination 101 sir. People don't get a pass on racism/sexism/etc because they have a reason for doing so. That's like saying it's okay for someone to be racist because they're old, or someone being sexist because they are from the middle east. They could add more servers in Japan and assign them to NA/EU temporarily until they get their montreal data center worked out. Instead they are blatantly discriminating against NA/EU players because they are not Japanese.

Wouldn't that be a temporary fix? That's the last thing we would need... half-way doing things or some sort of lack of planning has resulted in the server failures we are seeing now.

Yes, so nationalism is different and was a poor word choice as an attempt to group everything into "one" category. The basic thing I was trying to say is avoid any talk of it if you want this thread to stay up and not get deleted like the old one.

You are correct, it makes no sense.
But it happened, presumably due to operational problems (read, SE having to hire someone for the datacenter other than the ones that they hired for the JP ones given it's in another country. Coupled with the language barrier that exists between the personnel JP-side which are experienced [they fought with the beta after all] and the NA-side [they didn't] causing serious miscommunication issues which led to erroneous configurations)

I currently manage servers in the UK, Canada, both the east and the west coast of the US... And apart from having a data center technician plug them in I would not let anyone outside my company touch them. And no, I don't need to physically go there to do anything including the initial install. Every machine that doesn't have a built-in baseboard management card(i.e. DRAC or Lights-Out) has a network KVM module on it (i.e. Lantronix). No worrying that some random person screwed up deploying the server.

also, the only way every single server would have exactly the same problem is if they either a) embedded that problem in their written procedure for building the servers or b) used a server image as a base for the servers and had that problem in the image.

Either way, this is ridiculous.

I do know there was a post somewhere (I can't find it ATM), that said they were only expecting 800,000 players for the Early Access, and instead got something close to 6 million (both JP and NA/EU) and they did infact fry some of the servers out. So I'm thinking they might be in panic mode trying to replace some things in the process of everything else going on.
