    Personally, I think all gear should have been rank restricted from the offset of the game. It's more than just working towards that specific gear you desire....but will make the game more challenging and rewarding to play in the end IMO.

    Isn't that what mmorpg games are supposed to be like?

    The penalty on gear above your Rank is actually quite horrifying. I had a Hatchet until recently that was 9 Ranks below my current Rank, however if I equipped the shiny new one I had waiting for me upon reaching Rank 37/38 (a single Rank above me at the time, can't remember which) my ability to gather would drop by about 11 Points in each associated stat. It really does punish you for not following the recommended, and if you aren't one of the classes that should use it it punishes you even further.

    Same with Bronze Haubergeon and such, I had a Rank 25 piece of Leather type armour which gave me around 30 more defense until I reached the recommended Rank for the Bronze stuff. Weapons as well - add to that the way that durability works now (if you are recommended Rank and Class, it degrades slower, if not, faster) then you really see that they want you to stick with what you should be using.

    Basically the only thing it doesn't do is stop you wearing it outright. That doesn't mean I'm against gear with restrictions, I just don't think everything (particularly crafted stuff) should become restricted. Also, I hope that clears up some misunderstandings about the gear and the 'way better stats'.

    *Edit* It strikes me as incredible just how little folk seem to notice things within the game - I guess that explains why I *do* see folk running around in Rank 40-50 gear at Rank 10 even when they would be better off in their underwear.

    These all look like just resizes of regular mobs, maybe not even so, they could have at least changed their color ... but that aside, I hope they are soloable NMs. If so, I'm happy.

    Not sure why there's all the arguement about rank restrictions on gear. SE never mentioned anything about that in the link posted by the OP. It only mentioned class restriction which is completely different.

    With regards to placing restrictions on gear, I do hope it's not all gear. I would like to see the information separated on the gear with one line saying "Optimized for classes" and another saying "Requires class". For example, a chain armour piece might show as follows:

    : Requires- DoW.
    : Optimized for- LNC, GLA, MRD.

    IF there's going to be rank restrictions I'd much prefer it to be shown as follows:

    : Requires minumum rank- 20
    : Optimal at rank- 30

    This way we can have gear as it is now, and future gear in a similar equip style, while still having gear which can be class specific. It also allows rank restrictions to be placed if required while still having an optimal rank for the gear. In the above example with the minumum rank 10 rank below optimal it still allows people to grow into gear instead of always growing out of the gear. With gear currently in the game just give it 'Requires- Any' and 'Required minimum rank- 1'. Everyone is happy?


    20 new NM's? That's a nice touch. It's always fun to run into an NM when you're out and about. I was really only expecting 3 or 4 new ones. I hope the patch notes tells us what ranks the NM's are before the patch goes live. It would suck to get a group of 50's together to go hunt an NM only to find out it's meant for groups around R30. If I don't die at the first attempt at each one I'll be rather disappointed.

    They mention a very long time ago gear will be restricted by rank as well in forthcoming updates to create goals for players. Class restrictions is the first step.

    I was wandering... do you think every rank 50 will be able to solo low ranked NM and still get the drop? or there are gonna be some restrictions so that we'll have to fight them with a party of the proper rank?
