It's going both ways really. The white knights and the whiners are both equally retarded in my eyes. This game is not perfect nor is it the best MMO. Why can't both sides see that?I think Yoshi has done an amazing job with this game. I'm guessing the game would have felt like even more of an improvement if I would have had the chance to play 1.0, but regardless the game is great enough that it is worth the wait. I really want to see this game succeed, as I know Yoshi and his team have put their very hearts and souls into making this game something amazing.
On the side of the community, I know not everyone agrees with this, and nothing I would be able to say would be able to change people's minds. Unfortunate as it may be, people are entitled to their opinions, I just wish some of the community would communicate them in a more civilized manner. Really tired of the bickering and foul language both in game and out.

I do not feel entitled to anything. What I'm not happy about is:
-I purchase the physical CE version of the game for PC (I do not own a PS3) and cannot redeem the registration code for it because I already have an active 1.0 Windows account.
-I got to play "Early Access" for all of a day, because I couldn't log in any other day during it from servers being full.
-I can not log in on the launch day of the game because the servers are full.
What I have played of the game, I love and Yoshi-P and his team did an amazing job with everything in game. What I hate is that I can't play the game because they development (or server team, or whoever) did not look at the pre-order or Beta numbers and think "We're going to need bigger servers". Especially given that we had what, a month?, between Beta 3 and 4.
I enjoyed the end of 1.0, I want to enjoy ARR, but I can't right now.

So Ridiculous.. There is no problem with the servers. They only hold a maximum of about 5000 people. The only issue going on here is there is a million people trying to play and not enough servers to hold that many people. Did SE miscalculate the number of worlds needed to support the player base? Obviously. Did they release a broken game? Certainly not. Sure, they could have launch with twice as many servers, but then everyone would be crying doom and gloom when they had to merge the low population servers because they over estimate. The only solution now, is to add servers and allow world transfers.
This is easily the best Launch of any MMO I've seen, and I've seen a lot of launches. SE is probably going to extend the free playtime because of this. People should just be happy they got a fully function game with content. Atleast when you do get to play, it works.

I havent seen someone care this much about a video game in a long time. Yoshi and his team are the kind of people the gaming industry needs right now. Those who are passionate and actually care about the game and not the money.
Anyone else wonder what Moogle tastes like?
Yeah I totally agree with you there. Berating of other people's points of view is more or less what I was poking at, and it is like you said, happens on both sides. Also like you said, no game is ever going to be perfect or the best, so people really just need to pick a game they enjoy and play. That's what games are for after all![]()

I can feel the hatred emanating from you lolThe expectations demonstrated there are: "Never speak negatively of ARR or anyone behind it. Mercilessly eviscerate anyone who dares speak a critical opinion, or offers a suggestion you don't like; shun them and tell them to "go away if they dare do so".
Yeah... "Different" alright. A real "Snapshot of Tolerance" that place was, and this place, so far, is shaping up to be.
You people are hilarious.
Thanks for the early morning laugh
If you don't like it, why do you hang around? Just curious. Typically, I find that community boards for a given game are, for the most part, made up of fans of the game, who generally tend to enjoy the game they are playing and enjoy speaking positively of it.
Perhaps you should find a forum community that would be a bit more neutral? It's like going to a Nintendo forum and complaining that everyone seems to enjoy Nintendo.
I agree with a lot of this. Right now my biggest complaint is the lack of log in queue. Right now it's just a crapshoot to get in. If there was a log in queue I would happy cause then at least i could wait instead i have to spam trying to get in. Which i can only imagine is creating more stress on the servers. I'm also not really happy with the level of communication that is currently taking place. I could be looking in the wrong places (Information section, loadstone, twitter).
I love the game, it just sucks I can't play. If it doesn't get better, I may not continue to play. If i could just learn what the plans are and a rough time frame to fix these problems It could set my mind more at ease.
Though with all that said there is one thing in today's letter from the producer that irks me.
This shouldn't be a time for fun. It should be a time for a scramble to fix the problems. And now it’s time for this hardcore gamer to have some fun! See you all in Eorzea!!!
I agree that FFXIV is a great and fun game I think that most of us feel that way. This whole 1017 thing doesn't let what seems to be an amazingly large number of people simply play the game in any capacity. I don't even think the extra servers they are adding will do much to alleviate the problem as early access allowed more people to create characters than can play on each server. The overloading will continue unless whatever percentage that can't log in gives up and migrates to a new server.
