Regarding Congestion in Japan Data Center Worlds (Aug. 27)
Thank you very much for playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Currently, an extremely high number of players are enjoying the game. Should the number of players continue to increase at the current pace, there is the possibility that our expectations and server capacity will be greatly surpassed. Therefore, in order to maintain a stable gameplay environment, we are implementing login and character creation restrictions.

In order to be able to welcome a drastically greater number of players, we are starting as early as this week with preparations to increase our facilities, to be ready by early next week. Until that time, we will be continuing to implement these restrictions as required, and we ask for your understanding and patience.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and once again thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Yup, Japan DC got hit with the 1017 in their prime time tonight, and boom- because "Congestion in Japan Data Center Worlds", not the EU/NA one, they are planning to expand capacity. Japan DC has one day of congestion via 1017, and SE is on the ball. NA/EU DC has 4 days of congestion and they are told to deal with it. Coincidence? You decide.

I dont blame Yoshi for this crap. Hes done a great job of the game and what he was supposed to do. If anything the only mistake hes done is not implement an AFK kick thing in the game.

As for the stability of the servers ... thats all on the overpaid idiots that are supposed to be managing the servers here and the logistics behind them.

I do feel bad for Yoshi though. Hes been very passionate for the game from day one and has been working his ass off ... now it all stands to come crashing down because some foreign dbag cant get his shit together.

Totally agree with the OP. Frankly some of the trash posted throught the teething problems with the servers have made me embarrassed to be part of this community.

Working in release management in the software industry myself, The most frustrating part of it is knowing that the vast majority of the mouthbreathers that decry these issues as somehow being simple problems have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. They are not caused by ineptitude or lack of care, commitment or passion. Companies don't have unlimited resources and it's virtually impossible to anticipate every eventuality

So yes, as usual with MMO launches, there have been far too many examples of the abject supidity, ignorance and lack of perspective that plagues the gaming community these days, but it's good to reassure any SE staff that might read it that there are still plenty of us out there that recognise how hard they must have been working on all this recently, and thank them for it. You guys rock!

This is why I don't blame Yoshi-P but I blame the higher ups at SE who can't predict the actually interests in this game when it comes to the overseas market. Making both NA and EU players playing on the same amount of servers that the JP have is kind of under estimating your overseas market. JP players compared to both NA and EU players is marginly small.

I hope they get this fixed but I do not hate any of the devs I just think this is unfortunate and this stream has helped me to see that Yoshi-P is the right person to direct this game. Before seeing the stream I didn't know much about him, but now all I want to do is hug him and support him but not blindly!

Pretty much this. I have never blamed Yoshi for these problems, I think him and his team have done an amazing job and the game itself is incredible. I do, however, blame his superiors in failing to provide him with money or the go ahead to buy more server racks/whatever is needed. I really do feel for Yoshi, and I hope he gets to take a nice, well-deserved vacation soon.

I just don't understand this logic. All MMOs have bugs at beta/EA/launch. Why are people so angry over bugs that are getting fixed? Its not like they are just leaving them.

I really think the F2P crowed and the people who wanted to race to lvl. cap and be ahead of everyone else but could not log in are the worse at complaining about the launch bugs.

Most people are not anrgy at bugs, mots people are angry about server congestion, which isnt caused by bugs, but by having less servers than what they should in order to earn more money by spending less because they know a portion of the players will leave soon.

And yes, almost every MMO has this same problem, and in EVERY one of them people have rightfully complaint about it.

Nah SE deserved what they got lol. OB, EA, Launch and now CE Pre-order bonuses are fucked up. Yoshi needs to stop crying and act like a boss lol
