Return the CE edition for a refund, then just apply the digital CE upgrade for $20 to your existing standard account? You wont get the physical goodies, but you get all the in game items.
You can't exactly return something you've already used the code for.
So where do I request a refund for my CE copy anyway so that I can purchase the $20 upgrade version?
Or, are they going to just let us register the code we already purchased? That would be fine too, but if they don't start responding on some of these matters, I have a feeling they are going to start losing customers. From all the issues, I know my faith is waning...
One more question... if I request a refund do I lose my pre-order bonus items cause they were all attached to the same purchase? If so, this would be really bogus.
Also, if they told us about this via email I might have known... but a forum posting about it? I haven't looked at FF XIV forums ever before today. Why would I? I bought the 1.0 version a long time ago and played it for 1 day, realizing it was garbage, and shelved that sucker a long time ago.

And if i want to get the CE items i have to rebuy the CE from the mog station.

It was a forum post on a forum that I didn't go to because I wasn't playing the game (the post was over a week before I even looked at FF XIV) ... I joined the game last week when I purchased it and they did not tell me anything about this at all. No email, no warning, nothing in my account.
Your comment was offensive and ignorant, and very unhelpful to frustrated players.
This is ridiculous. Okay, so I appreciate that they put a forum thread up but come on... I ordered my copy of v1 for next to nothing when it was on sale, played it once and then shelved it as I didn't like it. That's going back about 2 years. I was aware that v1 users could upgrade to ARR for free but I wanted the digital CE items and so (like many here it seems) ordered that from a third party website only to now discover that I can't redeem the code, thus I have to choose between using my existing account that has my EA character and pre-order bonuses on or create a new account to obtain my CE items. Frustrating to say the least...
I can understand people defending Squeenix, believe me I want this game to succeed this time around as much as anyone but such a convoluted account system is sure to turn some people off and with the ongoing server issues I think it's understandable that people are worried.
