What's the chance the support tickets will get them to just apply the CE items to an account? ._. slim I guess

I also owned 1.0. I pre ordered the DCE from GreenManGaming using store credit that I had so it was less expensive than it would be for upgrading to the DCE on the Mogstation. I am now stuck with a useless code that I can't redeem. Fantastic.
Sell the code to a friend for $20 and upgrade your account... at least you didn't accidentally redeem the code creating a second service account, and are now hoping that SE merges them or something useful.
With the clearly high volume of people doing this, you would think they realized it was a stupid move on THEIR part not the consumer.
I would like to mention this is not new. This has been something mentioned since Phase 3 of beta that i was aware of. Which is the sole reason why i bought the PS3 edition of the game. I already owned 1.0 and knew that all 1.0 players, legacy or otherwise, get a free, equal, version of ARR. if you had 1.0 you got ARR, and if you had 1.0 CE you got ARR CE. Plus 14 days to play before you have to start paying. And if you got and added the PS3 version to your account, you got an additional 30 days of free play.
Edit: I would also like to mention that SE offered CE upgrades for 1.0 owners who didn't have the CE. So that you can get the CE items without having to pay for the full game.
You're missing the point, you're just telling everyone they should have known regardless. If you haven't noticed, most of these people including myself didn't know about it at all.
I work 9am to 6pm at Mercedes Benz USA mon-sat and am engaged, I drive 80miles round trip to work, what playtime? Assumption is what makes people less intelligent in this world. Yes I read forums on my iphone5 from beta phase3 to now, I knew about things way before they became relevant, that's how I got all my CE items, account verified in proper section and am enjoying playtime at night when I come home, before blaming SquareEnix, blame yourselves and read more, cry less.

I was in the same boat. Took me and three friends scouring different websites and forums to put all the info together. This is after buying two regular digital codes (no refunds) and one ce digital code (no refund).
We were all legacy players too. Thankfully we figured it all out all early enough. I sole my regular key and ce key and my gf sold hers. We upgraded our accounts to ce for $20.
We were fortunate enough to break even but I can see where people were confused. Square did squat to explain this all. They finally made a post day of launch explaining all this. Too little too late for some.
Well good for you buddy, aren't you just the model citizen? Unfortunately your argument is flawed because a massive amount of people who will find themselves in this situation will not even read the forums. You can defend this until the cows come home but the fact remains that relying on a single forum post to inform v1.0 players that they would not be able to insert a product key for ARR is completely illogical. Would it really have hurt to send out an email to legacy players?I work 9am to 6pm at Mercedes Benz USA mon-sat and am engaged, I drive 80miles round trip to work, what playtime? This has been everywhere that FFXIV touches. Reddit. Twitter, Gamefaqs, Facebook. Not just one forum. and the reposts.... lets just say there is a reason there are 1,900+ open threads in the Tech Support forum here alone.Well good for you buddy, aren't you just the model citizen?
