So... my question to Yoshida would be

"Speaking with Kotaku, the game's producer and director explained that his team is fully aware of the pressure on them to salvage the brand's reputation following the poor reception the MMO received. He asserted that this was why they were determined not to launch the revamped Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn until they feel the game is ready."
"We won't make a mistake like FFXIV again," he said. "If we did, it would be like at the level of destroying the company."

OK, I'm not trying to really tear a man apart, this is probably a stressful time for him. But... I have to ask, I thought the game wasn't supposed to be released until it's ready? Doesn't seem particularly ready.

The game for all intents and purposes IS ready but the server infrastructure was sorely mismanaged and unprepared for the sheer load. The IT end of the system failed but the game could have had a queue system that worked 100% of the time rather than this occasional queue but usual 1017 error crap.

Unfortunately for this Yoshida clown, the servers are as big a part of an mmo as the game itself, if not bigger. So far, this game is a monumental failure, and it should have been obvious what would happen. Every mmo has hiccups at the start, but this is full on cardiac arrest.

The game is ready, it's silky smooth for me even.
The servers are just roughening things up. Maybe they should add offline (or LAN) mode with AI party members jk lol

I don't think people remember just how bad 1.0 was. If you think this is a "mistake on the same level," you are out of your mind. Even calling 1.0 a "game" is far too generous. There were no quests, no market system, no dungeons, bad gear system, poorly thought out leveling system, a large world with nothing in it, no mounts, no airships, poorly designed repair system, etc. It was one of the biggest failures in the history of gaming. So bad that it couldn't be salvaged. Instead, they scrapped the entire game and built a new one to replace it.

If you think what amounts to little more than a minor inconvenience even begins to approach the disaster that was 1.0, I don't know what to say to you. This is rather average for an MMO launch. Almost all of them have problems, and yes, a good number of them worse than anything we've experienced thus far. If you don't want to deal with launch day issues, then you shouldn't be getting MMOs at launch. Those of us who are both experienced and realistic about these things completely expected this, and while we aren't happy about it, we're not turning into raging lunatics over it either. If you can't deal with this, you seriously need to learn to roll with the punches.

Once the servers are fine these people saying that the game itself is terrible will soon realise it's actually pretty darn good. The servers are about as stable as a drunk monkey on a unicycle but they are definitely getting better. Heck I even noticed more players being logged in so that's a hell of a good sign.

Give credit where credit is due, Yoshi and his dev team did an outstanding job, it's the PR team and tech team we should be disappointed (not angry) with.

One day we'll all look back and laugh at this, chin up.
