    Overkill is just overkill

First off I am all about lore and questing and loved all the great cs and what not of xi and xiv v1 but the sheer amount of little tiny quests that do nothing but fill space and make it easy for ppl to lvl 1-50 on main scenario quests is omgtoomuch

I have been with this game since v1 beta along with multitudes of other games and the sheer number of side missions just to complete the main scenario is too much even for me! and that is saying A LOT!

I'm scared this is going to be a HUGE deterrent for new players and even some old ones. These should definitely be shaved down a bit, its just way overkill. I keep throwing my hands in the air and wondering when it will stop. I mean how many quests does it take to pick of a bottle of wine?

*wants more quests* *is an immature child that can't stay focused on grinding without the end goal of that awesome sound when you complete a quest and turn it in*
But in all seriousness, I'm dreading having to level up another class because I've already done too many of the lower-level quests to level up through quests and I just don't find FATE grinding to be all that fun. My husband has hit a spot at level 10 where he has done all the quests and has nothing left to do but grind (he's working on another class other than his main one because he wants to try everything out but we can't risk logging out/not being able to get back in) and we just don't like grinding, not when there is so much else we have to grind out irl. What with school, work, and the daily grind of life. We play this game to escape that and have fun. We find quests and running instances fun. You may not, and that's fine... but just don't do the quests then. Don't take them out just because you can't stand them.

I haven't touched side quest at all. They're there to help ppl, but you don't need to do it. I only focus on main mission. I believe doing the side quest from lvl 1-50 while doing main mission will make this game very boring. I realize this on beta phase 1-3 so I've pretty much avoided it. I do like 1 or 2 when I feel like it but that's it.

Edit: My bad, I misread the original post, but I still like the extra jazz in the main scenario quests because it's more to do and makes quests run out less quicker (makes quests last longer? Makes questing last longer*)... /bad grammar is bad grammar, my bad.

many of these could be side quests and it would be fine but the multitude of filler on the main scenario line is waaaaay overkilled

(bolded and underlined where I said MS, its easy to miss)

I understand there may seem like some crappy ones, but there are some neat ones too if you pay attention.

I was doing main mission stuff in the South Shroud and did one side-quest and got a baby chigoe minion from it! Another quest beside it told me about a previous Duskwight civilization. I hadn't even realized at this point in the game that most of them lived outside towns. Made me stop and pay attention to the lore.

Also there was this camp drybone quest that made me kill 7 dusty mongrels...then get back to the girl and she's like 'They tore my husband into 7 pieces...so now I kill 7 of them'. Pretty effing dark. I felt awkward just reading it.

So really, there are some gems. Just gotta stop and really read them as opposed to going from point A to B just to get them done.

Hmm. So where exactly do we go after killing ifrit?. all I've seen is just bunch of sidequest, and travel to the 3 cities, and still haven't found the next main scenario. I do agree that there is too much SQ, but at least it gives XP.

I was reading and enjoying it but it just got to be too much. Its a main scenario and even for someone such as myself who loves lore and keeping busy it is too much. Content is one thing, busy work is a whole new ball game. Definitely should have put much of this as side quests instead of smack dab in the middle of the story.

Like I said I am scared it will be a deterrent. SE is known for being story heavy and that's what I love about it, but sometimes you need to edit

take an exp group out with 8 people and kill mobs 6-8 levels higher and chain them then when you see a fate do them... now thats some seriously retarded fast exp and you meet some really great people on your server and it knocks off doing quests which are for soloing anyway
