50 WHM Quest - Heart of the Forest

Ugh how do you win this thing? I've only gotten to the 2nd phase once. I thought I had almost won until it started. >.<

Please, what strategies have worked?

All I can tell is you cure the guardian tree. In the first phase, nothing agros you so other than cure spamming, that's all you can do, along with abilities to help better cures and conserve MP.

Benediction is available, MP free, and works on the Guardian Tree.

(Incidentally, that is one of the "rewards" for this quest, the Healer's Robe and Benediction - both of which I already have. So I guess I don't really need to finish this until presumably after the level cap is raised . . .)

In the second phase, stuff is attacking you. It's like I really have no idea what to do, and die pretty quick. Can't really cure or dd because I'm just going down fast.

Help a Lala out!

This fight seems to be a bit random, or at least that's how I felt.
First time I did it I was healing the tree and eventually ended up dying.
2nd time I was killing mobs and the tree died.
3rd time I killed mobs and healed the tree and it was easy as pie.

I can't really give any strategy as such, but just concentrate on killing the mobs asap and when there is downtime, use it as well as possible to heal the tree.

To be honest, the WHM AF quests are super easy now... It's actually a bit of a shame that you can solo everything up to 50...

killed everything. healed tree a bit. smited some more. won.

Just nuke down the adds as they spawn. Whenever there's a break between the wave of mobs heal the tree. When the wisps start spawning in the 3rd wave prioritize killing them because if they reach you they kamikaze you for insane dmg.

I tried to heal then attack the adds but ran out of mp so the tree died, then just attacked the adds letting the others heal the tree making sure Priest Stance is active and that worked.
