26 JAP Servers>>25 NA/EU Servers, 80% sales in NA/EU, 20% JAP (Error 1017)

So this data is only good as of 8/10/13, however I was blown away by the numbers...

Total Units Sold
North America: 0.38m 53.4%
+ Europe: 0.18m 26.0%
+ Rest of the World: 0.15m 20.6%
= Global 0.71m

So I logged in, and during character selection, I counted the servers available for JAP vs NA/EU and to my shock this is what I found:

25 servers for NA/EU
26 Servers for Japan (plus the rest of the World)

No wonder Japan doesn't have any network problems or trouble logging in. North America + Europe is aprox 80% of the sales, we should have 4x the servers of Japan. We have 25 servers and should have 100 to expect to have the experience Japan does.

Square Enix knew how many preorders and 1.0 players they had, and what data center's servers they would play on. So the question I have is why?!? Why would you give one less server to NA/EU when we have 4x the customer base than Japan? It's no wonder why we have these issues. It's clearly not the code, as your code works fine on JAP servers. The game runs fine when you limit our logins, again a sign of you not having enough servers, and allowing for too many people to join a single server.

/Sigh...

So very frustrated. This could have been avoided. Bad business decision folks. To everyone one else experiencing 1017 I hope Square pulls their heads out from their A**. I for one am already expecting game credit time after reviewing this info, and free server transfers should be right around the corner to fix your mistakes. I want this franchise to succeed, but so far it's been

Maybe we should designate a few JP servers as unofficial NA servers so we can start a community there that can actually play?

Please keep in mind that the # of servers available does not indicate the number of concurrent connections each server is able to handle.

That site is notorious for pulling numbers out of thin air. Not that I doubt that the current NA/EU playerbase dwarfs the JP one.

I don't believe the numbers. Even as skewed as they can get, if you actually take the time to count the jp/na servers. They each have 25. There has been no official statement as far as sales and demographics are concerned, so we can easily state that picking random numbers out of a hat, without factual evidence is just a silly reason to get angry over the game being so popular at the moment.

There are things that need to be addressed, but I'm sure anyone complaining about it, isn't making the dev team any more aware of the issues, than they already are.
