Sooo... How does the Queue System Work?

Being in a queue to me means I am in line. So why do I get a 1017 when it refreshes my position in the queue.

I'm hoping it's just a bug in a quickly tossed together queue system. I do have to say though that if that is the case I am worried that it hasn't been fixed yet.

However it feels more like Going to a Limited Quantity sale. I'm then given a voucher with the number 50 to insure I get the product. I then wait in line only to be told that they only had 10 items making said voucher useless and that I will have to come back later when there is another shipment for which I will need to get another voucher.

Any insights?

And no I have already considered monkeys typing Shakespeare.

If I am supposed to ask for technical support then here is my question to SE(Square Enix, not Sony Entertainment).

Why am I getting 1017 Errors after refreshing my position in Queue?

P.S. There is one thing that can fix computer problems. Turn it off and on again. AFK Free Loaders Be Gone.

P.S.S. Ban the ones that openly admit to doing it for an equivalent amount of time they squatted on the servers, but only start the timer for an hour after they try to log in.

I agree with you on the timers. There is no reason for people to be squatting on the servers if they are not playing. I have been trying all day to get on (almost 14 hours) and still no luck. I had the same problem as you did with being in Queue and then it refreshed to 1017 error. I don't understand why we have servers that only allow so many people to log in at a time, Why not just limit the amount of players allowed to create a toon on the server that way you know everyone will be able to get in without any delays and just up the amount of servers you have. Looking at the way the game is going I may not play past the free 30 days, unless they fix the server problems and setup some kind of timer to kick people after say 2 hours squatting. I think they should do a full reset on the system and give everyone a chance to log in and if you aren't at your system then to bad you shouldn't have been logged in in the first place.

There were a lot of people last night that said they were not going to log off because it took them so long to get on, so now we have over 1000 people sitting on a server not doing anything while you have 2000 or more wanting to get on to actually play. I understand SE doesn't owe us anything yet but I ordered the CE for the extras and now I wish I would have just waited and got the regular one and not waste as much money. I'm willing to beat that half the people that are squatting are the ones that have a 9-5 job and left the system on all day just so they could play when they got off work. It seems like if you want to play the game you have to wait till 3am (EST here) to be able to sign on. My question to SE is did you ever lift the logon limit after you did the maintenance or are we still sitting at half capacity? and if so why are you trying to release a game early if you haven't fixed your problems.

You get a queue? I'm up to 2.5 hours of "try again later".

I'm guessing it's something like this:

Say there are 20000 spots available on the server. If there are more than 20000 people, then you get the 'try again later, server is full' message. If there's 18000-19999 on, then the queue opens up and starts letting people in. If there are 19999 people on, and the server opens the queue and tries to let 500 people in, then 499 of them are going to be pissed off because the person at the front of the queue got in when the system fucked up and added more people to the queue than there were spots available.

I've gotten in queue at position 147 only to be logged on a few seconds later.
I've also gotten queue at position 14 only to get the 1017 message.

The queue number is misleading imo. I rarely jump up in queue, it just takes me into the game if I can get into queue.
So if those numbers mean anything, it probably means there's only about 150 spots for queue.

Has anyone seen higher queue numbers lately?

Thats because its a game breaking problem... it stops people from actually playing the game... its understandable that people get furious over it
