Not the issue, because 'sitting round while AFK' generally won't last very long, in any case the current situation totally entices people to deliberately 'subvert the system' should AFK idle kicking ever happen.
I say again, it's a placebo, in games that have it it doesn't work at those times you NEED it to.
IS the issue. If less people are encouraged to sit around AFK then there will be more people in the game that are actually playing. End of story. Right now, my friend and I have just decided that we will never willingly log our characters out again, so long as this system is in place. We're not botters, nor do we ever want to be. We aren't computer savvy and don't want to go on questionable websites to download programs that may or may not have malicious software on them. But we will sit AFK in the server while we go to work and school, if it's going to be that easy. We don't want to spend our few hours of free time clicking Num0. So yes, what is being proposed will dissuade a lot of "casually AFK" people.
Your argument of "it won't fix all AFKing always forever" is a pointless argument. If it helps, it helps. To use your language, it doesn't have to be a panacea, but it's definitely not a placebo.
