Phoenix Down

In just about every Final Fantasy besides XIV and XI players can revive their party members via items called Phoenix Downs.

The dev team has said that they are working on changing the death penalty and how raises work. One thing I would like to see added is Phoenix Downs. It could be created by a high-level alchemy recipe, but anyone would be able to use them. This way, even if someone is in a party where no one has CON leveled high enough to cast Raise, you can still revive someone if they die in the field. In order to CONs (or whatever other jobs get Raise spells in the future) from becoming irrelevant, Phoenix Downs would revive a player at lower health than a normal raise spell.

I think the implementation of classic FF items would help address some of that "not very FF-like" feeling some people have.

I just wished the usage of items in this game was a LOT more.. important. No one uses potions or ethers, cuz they're kinda useless lol

I like this idea, but I would take it one step further.

In each zone, Abandoned Nest nodes rarely spawn that hold feathers, that any DoL class can gather from to possibly find a rare Phoenix Feather. These can be used by Alchemists to make Phoenix Downs

It's useless if they item is high value especially when death has relatively no penalty.

Perhaps make it an item that high level botanist can gather.

Having to put your weapon away does not help item use at all. I would love to see an item revamp. I wanted an alchemist at one point, then realized how it was futile since no one would buy my potions

In FF XI phoenix's down doesn't exist, but reraisers do :P and some enchanted item

I always thought it was bizarre that these items weren't in XI.. I mean, for years and years the game sat in a state of such inflated economy that actually being able to afford most potions was nigh impossible as it was - so it's not like Phoenix Downs would have ever been abused.. (Surely they would have been expensive to create, moreso than the average potion..) Even now in XI where the economy is more normalized and potions and such drop from chests regularly - indicating it's not as much of a concern anymore for these things to be abused - we still don't have them in XI..

I'd love to see that change in XIV though.. Make it difficult to craft if necessary, but make it happen! Not sure I agree with the idea of beating up Phoenix NM(s) though.. Phoenix should remain a summon, not a farmable creature that exists almost purely to produce potions.. But there are plenty of ways to setup a recipe for it without the direct need of a Phoenix. (Enchanted Bottled Flame + Pure White Feather + Revival Root, as a raw example.. I always thought it was odd given the description of Revival Root in XI, that it never played a part in crafting Phoenix Downs..)

I agree i wont made having this item. But can SE do something about the potions in ffxi i got some when i first start then found out there pointless and don't help much. potions could help players that like to solo and many more useful for it.
