Square Enix, the 1017 issue and me.

I hate to say this, but I'm disappointed in you Square Enix. I've been a big supporter of you for the longest time. I've played and beat every Final Fantasy game and I've played the crap out of Final Fantasy XI. I even played some of the mess that was Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 when it first came out, had the CE pre-ordered months in advance! So when I heard they were remaking it and read what they had planned, I was undoubtedly excited. Now, from what I've actually been able to play so far I am really enjoying it, but that's when I get to actually play it...

Some of your design decisions have been on par with the 1.0 fiasco. The big problem people are having right now is being able to log in and play a game they've paid for, better known as the 1017 issue. To give you an example, I've been home from work for almost two hours now. I have tried logging in, to no avail, that entire time. Do you know how annoying it is to sit here for that long and press Start > Service Account 1 > Character and then get the 1017 window over and over again? Why doesn't it put everyone in a queue? I would be happy to wait an hour or more if it actually put me in a queue. As it stands right now it says something incredibly ridiculous.

Are you kidding us? How are we supposed to wait for an opening when it doesn't even tell us there is one? Our only option is to sit there and do what I've been doing for the past couple hours. PLEASE GIVE US A QUEUE!!!

I was excited for a minute earlier when I was given a queue but after about a minute the 1017 error popped up over it! *sigh* We just want to play a game we paid for, that's not too much to ask. Please work on implementing a better queue system that can handle everyone. And like it's been mentioned before please kick the inactive players after 15-20 minutes. Even Final Fantasy XI had that option, granted you had the option to turn it off for bazaars, but that's besides the point.

You won't lose me from this but I know for a fact you will lose many others if this isn't brought under control immediately. A lot of us are enjoying what we get to play and if everyone had access to play when they wanted you would keep more players and as a result make even more money! Fix this mess, please.

This is coming from someone who bought the version 1.0 CE and bought an entirely new copy of the game with this new release. I am a big supporter of yours so please don't let me and many others down!

Yeah, it's gotten pretty ridiculous. That moment when the loading screen actually pops up for a good 10 seconds and gets your hopes up...and BAM! 1017d.

The problem is all the people who log in and never log out...and SE incentivising the behavior with 1017 errors. Post in this thread and get SE to make a real solution to the problem, not a patch fix like 1017.

The worst part is the game has now officially launched and we still get these errors. I feel really bad for the people picking up the game today.
