Signed! I don't understand the rationale behind allowing AFK players to stay online in the first place. This isn't EQ that requires you to leave your character online acting as a vendor overnight. There's no reason for it.
Come on SE, this is a no brainer. IT should take you a few minutes to write a script, then about 10-30 min to implement it. You'd make your fans happy.
That being said, I leave my char logged in all the time because I can never log in :P but I'd be happy if you kicked me when i am
It is time, SE, fix this please.
15 min afk timer -.- 30 min max. If the servers had this rotation going the people shouldn't have to afk for hours at a time (screwing everyone else over) just to make sure they can play.
Edit: Actually base it on demand between 15-30. When everything stabilizes then maybe bump it up.

Guys, this problem is NOT going to go away. SquareEnix needs to do four things to solve the server congestion issues. Two of which they have made extremely obvious they have no intention of doing, and the other two they seem rather disinclined towards as well.
First, remove the Error 1017 stating that the world is full. If the world is full, place the player in a queue and TELL HIM HOW DEEP IT IS. At this point players can either tab away from the game while they wait or choice to exit and go do something else.
Second, implement an "away from keyboard" auto-disconnect such as is present in EVERY OTHER MMO. If the server does not receive a hardware control input from the client (via keyboard or mouse) for a set period of time (15 minutes seems to be average across most games, but exact length doesn't matter as long as it exists) then the server disconnects from the client with a message along the lines of "You have been logged out due to inactivity"
Third, create new worlds for the NA/EU data center(s). As it stands all but 2 worlds were completely full last night, and with the actual launch tonight those two will fill up within hours, if not minutes. With the number of people receiving Error 1017 and the fact that 23 of the 25 worlds are full, I would probably consider adding at LEAST 10 new worlds.
Finally, implement a way for players to move existing characters over to less populated worlds. Ideally this should also allow for group movement for people who are playing with friends and for professional gaming guilds who got broken up by the insane login and character creation limitations. This also needs to be FREE. It only needs to be in place and free for a week or so for the populations to balance out.
If SquareEnix did those things their congestion issues SHOULD balance out to the normal level for a MMO launch, but I can't promise that it will, or even that SE will actually do what is needed.
The problem is you have people running the development team who simply do not understand that to be a good developer sometimes you have to be a jerk. You can't always have the game that you would like to play for one reason alone: people will exploit every system that lets them exploit it.
I agree. Please boot the AFKers and increase the que. (They said it might rain. They never said it would be a typhoon!)
Yes I agree, PLEASE implement a system whereby people who are not active for at least 20 mins+ should be kicked out.
I agree start kicking inactive users out. I am not sure on what a time limit should be but it should be long enough. maybe 15-20 minutes. This would eliminate these issues. I know that there are people doing this just like everyone else knows, heck I thought about doing it this morning when I was able to log on. But I didn't because I know better. SO please PLEASE PLEASE SE. let's fix this
I would also agree that moving people to other servers would be great deal as well, I know that there are several servers that I wouldn't mind moving too as well.
Thanks
