I've seen a very good adaptive system in place for several MMOs in the past. Server load determined how long a character can be inactive before getting a 2 to 5 minute warning. If the character remained inactive after the warning, they get booted at the end of the warning period. Maximum load generally had a 10 to 15 minute inactive period, while low server loads allowed an hour or more. All times are given in ranges to cover the different MMO's I've seen this on.
Adding a check for 2 to 5 warnings in a row with less than 1 to 3 minutes of activity should result in a boot as well, for those who are blatantly trying to waste server space. I'm sure that implementing such a system would take some time, but I've got plenty else to do while I wait![]()
Please implement this SquareEnix. All other major MMO games have this feature. This is what is causing the 1017 error. I haven't been able to log on since Saturday morning!!
What is going to happen tomorrow when there are even more players trying to log in? I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a backup game (Tales of Xillia) to go to when this game undoubtedly won't be working.

Agree, kick inactive players before your lose more of your subscriber base. The game is worth while, but you have to allow people to access it. Patching in a "we're full good freaking luck" error codes will cripple this already questionable launch.

Signed! I don't understand the rationale behind allowing AFK players to stay online in the first place. This isn't EQ that requires you to leave your character online acting as a vendor overnight. There's no reason for it.
I agree start kicking inactive users out. I am not sure on what a time limit should be but it should be long enough. maybe 15-20 minutes. This would eliminate these issues. I know that there are people doing this just like everyone else knows, heck I thought about doing it this morning when I was able to log on. But I didn't because I know better. SO please PLEASE PLEASE SE. let's fix this
I would also agree that moving people to other servers would be great deal as well, I know that there are several servers that I wouldn't mind moving too as well.
Thanks

Step 1. Kick AFKers
Step 2. Add more than a pitiful 100ish max player queue.
Step 3. Upgrade your equipment, god knows you made enough money off of us already.
Agreed to add this functionality @OP.
However the AFK timer should be 10-15 minutes max before you get booted.
why did se stop booting people off the server? they did it in beta just fine.

This would be a start.
