The thing that I hate most about the error 1017 approach that SE is going with is that you CAN get into the game. I use a PS3 controller and just spam log-in for about 10 minutes... I'll eventually get in.

If there was a queue, I imagine that it would take significantly longer than that to get in, so I'm essentially cutting in line. Error 1017 rewards people with PS3 controllers (much easier to spam than on keyboard) and lets people cut in line. If they just bring back queues, people will be mad, but at least they know they will eventually get in.

I am so completely irritated with this. I busted my butt all summer, got 6 A's on 19 credit hours and I have 1 week before Fall starts. I was really looking forward to just sitting down, playing Final Fantasy XIV and NOT THINKING.

Instead, I get to play this game where I click on my character, click "Log In" and then click "Ok" for an hour before I get to play the game I actually bought.

This is so amateur. Not enough servers? For pre-order? How can they not know how many of us there were?

this. only reason i'm even using a controller (pc) is so i can spam the login quicker.

It's funny how they are basically trying to kill their own game. Last night I was only able to on after they did the quick maintenance that kicked off all the afk people. The PR needed to keep people around past the free month will be quite interesting and hopefully is enough to keep people around as the game itself is decent. The servers are just poop.

I was lucky and got on after 3 tries today. But had to log out to eat (won't go afk I feel it rude to keep others out) then never could get back in. So my solution is simple for me. Fix it soon or I am not continuing past the free 30 days. And will contest the purchase stating its a defective product.

I actually had a very good experience today after being 3102'ed all of beta 4 and locked out in various ways through much of EA. Played almost flawlessly all day, did a few Duty Finder dungeons and Ifrit, even logged out and got back in after spamming start for a while.

I would much rather have the login restrictions than the 90k and 3102 problems.

The only thing they would need to fix this is an AFK timer and more severs. Why wasn't an AFK timer implemented? So many people just leave their character logged on all day so they don't lose their spot to play. It's unfair.

What's worse is that couple cannot play together. My husband and I have never been able to sign in at the same time. Either one of us gets an error or neither of us can play. Right now, I had to relog because my computer had an issue. Sure enough, now I can't log in at all because of 1017.
