As I post this there sre NO EU servers alllowing character creation

I 'get' that servers are heavily loaded and SE have failed to deploy hardware and software capable of surviving the load, but if you already have characters on one you should be allowed to create another on the same account .. after all you can't play them both at once so server load isn't affected in the slightest!

Stupid restriction as I pointed out, if I can log in on an existing character I should be able to create a new one. I 'get' SE are trying to limit the load so 'first time' players are going to increase the load but players with existing characters are NOT adding to the load by creating a new one instead of logging in an existing one.

It gets better, right NOW there is ONE NA (Lamia) and ONE EU (Phoenix) server allowing character creation.

... and people thought the world pass business in FFXI was bad. At least then you could keep re-rolling your character until it randomly assigned you the world you wanted. In FFXIV if you want to play with your friends and didn't make your characters at the same time then you're pretty much screwed for awhile. People who couldn't play until tomorrow are going to be disappointed to find they're barred from almost all the servers.

thats supposing they can even get through the horrifically prohibitive queue and or SE opens the floodgates and then they get to see what happens when duty finder dies.

I would think that most players started during early access and had pre-ordered the game. Who wants to wait a couple of weeks, or even a month to play an MMO? people who see it on the shelf or hear about it from word of mouth, that's who! and i would not think that those players would be a plurality as grouped by month of service start.

I understand that it is no fun to play on a different server than your friends, but if you have waited a month to start, you probably wont mind waiting another week to twenty months to play either.

I agree that you should be able to make 8 characters on a sever that you have one on already, but really, why do you need to right now? unless it is for storing your crafting supplies.

Dammit SE you've had TWO attempts now to sort of this bloody situation and STILL ALL EU SERVERS ARE LOCKED TO CHARACTER CREATION DURING EU PRIMETIME.

hey now, watch the language! also, why are you playing on an NA server and complaining about wanting to make a character on an EU server?
Also, servers are locked during prime because servers are locked whenever there is a queue. try making a character before or after work or set an alarm to make one in the middle of the night
