Lancer not able to roll "need" on lancer gear.

The issue with the tank not able to need on DoW gear isn't the same as the LNC not rolling on chainmail class gear. Tanks are supposed to wear Heavy/chainmail gear from the start and are never supposed to wear light armor, LNC/DRG evolve to wear chainmail gear as they level and then are supposed to wear heavier armor (see our relic armor) --> which I think is the issue as the rolling rules don't change.

way gear seems to work is:
Cuirass = tank (war/mar/gla/pld)
Chain/scale mail = heavy DPS (war/mar/gla/pld/lnc/drg)
Harness = light DPS (disciples of war)

LNC starts off using light dps gear but ~25 start getting heavy DPS gear. If the heavy gear has LNC/DRG in list of jobs it IS meant for LNC and we should be able to roll for it.

I was playing LNC in Halatali. A helm that could be used by LNC and I could not 'NEED' loot. The item would be a significant upgrade in defense. I disagree with some comments about it being "tank" gear. There are a lot of instances that I have to solo in the game and would benefit from this increase in defense. If my job is listed on the item, I should be able to 'NEED' loot it period.

As I said on my post reporting this bug (had to do it, due to this one not following the template, and sometimes support can be really picky about that)

That gear, is for heavy dps, because they're also allowed to build dps for solo purposes mainly, if they so desire, that doesn't mean, they ought to be able to get it before us, because, infact, our dps is higher, if anything, they should be the ones able to greed it, and not need it. And for everyone who still feels like saying BS

I also got the problem that i cant roll on mail gear. Even if the mail gear got accuracy and skill speed, nothing tanky about that. This run in Cutter's Cry the tank got 2 armors , just becouse i couldnt roll on them, and he did not really need any of them!

That just makes no sense at all that the tanks get priority on loot that is not even really for a tank. Not to mention if i greed, EVERYONE else in the party can greed and get it.
And since you cant trade items that you got as loot for the duration of the instance or something, it screws us over from getting good gear even more.

Hi. PLD tank here. I had the same issue. A lot of the dungeons I run items drop that clearly a full upgrade. I understand the reasoning but the item does specified what class can use it. Initially, I thought this was just for "Disciples of War" rated item. Then, in Vigil, I saw a helm drop, and clearly state GLD MRD PLD ETC. I can't roll Need on that. The other team members were Disciples of Magic.. so.. even in that case, you can't roll Need on it.

The fact of the matter is, if an item is suited to a particular class only, the filter of the item should only list that class.

I strongly believe that this is a bug.

Below is an example of an item I won with "Greed" and cannot "Need" as an example.

It has Determination +6 and Vitality +7.
Those are both tank stats.

It also has Strength +6 and Crit +9
Those are both DPS stats.

Looks to me that the algorithm that determines what classes can roll on is borked when it's 50% tank and 50% DPS stats. I am curious to see if a DPS could have rolled Need on that.

Wrong.

Strength and Vitality is the base for all Gear of DoW classes, including Chain/Scale, and Heavy.

The last two determines what roll it is. Parry, Dexterity & Accuracy is catered towards tanks, where as Crit, Skillspeed & Determination is DD.

It doesn't. At end-game, all gear is catered towards specific Classes/Jobs. Check out Darklight. Then the DarkSteel (LNC/DRG) equivalent for WHM/CJN, Vanya's Robe. Allagan gear, then you can use Materia to spec how you want to play. Also a lot of sets give different stats.

For example, Allagan Counterpart for AF2 gear as a Dragoon is tankier.
