    Confused about going from 1.0 to 2.0

    I was under the impression that people who bought the retail version of 1.0 did not have to buy 2.0. They could just download the client and resub their accounts (regardless of legacy status). Is that true? I thought it was, but now I'm reading some conflicting information that's confusing me...

    For those that bought FFXIV 1.0, you don't have to buy ARR. If you participated in the final beta test, you essentially have the client already, and if you don't, then I assume SE will probably be sending out e-mails regarding those that didn't participate in the Beta Testing.

    You will only have to pay for 2.0 if you want to digital upgrade your account to Collector's Edition ($20), or if you want to play on the PS3 version of the game.

    1.0 CE holders get ARR for free and get the extras that ARR CE people get (digital items only of course)

    I assume that policy works for people who bought 1.0 but then canceled their accounts a month later? I'm trying to get my friend back into this game and I want to make sure he doesn't have to buy a whole new copy of it. Thanks!
