yea you can see it pretty well. Check the youtube video above for video of ff14 running on shield. With the screen as small as it is do you find it hard to see? My wife and I may be having another baby in the next year which will lead to me putting the computer in the basement and giving up my office. I've been looking at getting a laptop so that I can play in the bedroom without disturbing the Mrs; however, if this is viable then I could go this route instead (and upgrade my graphics card since I have a 560 currently).
We don't want the full computer in the room, and I don't want to be a basement dweller, so I need someting more portable to play on.

This is exactly what I'll be doing with PS4+VitaI can wait a bit.
This has nothing to do with the Nvidia Shield but i can play ff14 from work on my Galaxy 10.1 tab. I can use either wifi or 3g 4g connection using a program called kainy.
this is amazing looking, I wonder how good it would work with the VPN setup. That should be introducing a serious amount of latency. I would be interested if anyone who has this running could comment on the VPN running on a strong cell network. I get about 20/20 on my cell with a 100ms ping using it as a hotspot.
Akiro_soryu so I have to ask about Kainy, does it essentially give you a lower latency vpn to your PC?
How well does that work for you? i gotta galaxy tab 2 10.1, i wouldnt expect to do anything hardcore while playing remotely, but if i can craft or something at work that would be awesome lol
Just bought an Nvidia Shield because of this thread, and also because I was trying to find a device to play XIV desk free. I believe Nvidia owes you a solid!
...unless you are from Nvidia. In which case this was an extremely clever sales pitch
edit: and by "just bought" I mean I just left my office to walk 45 minutes to the nearest store that had one and back

are you sure you did only this because I have the same problem as you but I never installed sweetfxI cant get this to work. I add the game to my steam library but when i launch it from nvidia shield nothing happens. its like i didnt even click the button but when i check the log it creates in my ffxiv folder i get this any ideas? all my other games launch fine including Tera.
EDIT: so i got it to work by removing the SweetFX files I was using to enhance the graphics (my god this game is beautiful with the right tweeks) so it works.
Except that the android keyboard wont pop up so I cant type my password in the launcher. Its always something lol
Edit: nvm it turned out that the nvidia shield program is stupid it wont run any program that I have checked ad run as admin just had to uncheck it lol

This is rather nifty. I won't be buying a shield off this alone but if I see other uses then I may just go in, definitely an amazing concept I can't lie.
It would be nice to play FFXIV outside on the lawn.
