Transferring UI setup

tl;dr: Save the gear sets server side :P

Please SE, please, transfer my UI or allow me the option to adopt a UI previously setup - through a in server feature. If this is already coming, then sorry lol - I did a quick search first.

While fixable, it is really annoying to have to set up gear sets, interface, and skill bars everytime I switch computers in my house XD

Perhaps the interface could be an option "save current set up to slot 1" and then another option to always load last slot or a specific slot based on choice.

For the gear sets I really don't see any reason why they should be divided. Its quite troublesome to have to figure out which item you are missing in a set you changed on computer A to computer B, and then add it back or restart the whole gear set because you are missing that one item and you can't (that I can tell) modify an existing gear set without actually having all items.

Similar point to the skill bar. (The UI and skill bar are more of quality of life options but playing on one computer and breaking your gearset on another is just too much, doubles my work organizing my characters, so at least the gear sets saved server side)


In the meantime, does someone know where the file is so I can just port it through the network?

I didn't realise all this was saved on the client, I planned on switching between PC and ps3, this would be a ball ache if there isno save on the server. Be nice if it was similar to what they I'd with xi, save settings on server and have an upload of saved settings.

Hi and I agree with your post..

I live in two different places so have two machines and find its a pain in the arse.

You will find the files you need in (add in your own windows login name) :-

C:\Users\user_name\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\

You will then see a directory with a similar name to FFXIV_CHR004000174A422ECC

In there you will find all the .DAT files for your gearsets, hotbar etc

This is Windows 7 but it wouldnt be far off for XP as well.

Please also add key maps to the list of possible shared items. Also, please be sure this mechanism also supports sharing the layouts, sets, and mapping between characters on the same client.

Are the files that store this information still located in the Documents Folder? In 1.0 you could simple copy the files from one PC to the Other.

What the development team needs to do is add the option to blacklist people from the chat window. its is a very tidious and anoying process to put someone on the blacklist, adding the option to do so right from the chat tab when you highlight their name in the chat window would make alot of people happy and would make the gil farming spamers much less anoying. i cant even read my friends text if im in a city because of them and it takes people 10min just to find out the name of the gil farm spamer and add it to the blacklist, do to the rediculous names of the spammer. please concider this dev team. gold farmers ruin the games emersiveness and make people walk away

Also, it would be nice to be able to select the normal hotbars on playstation 3 as well for people that prefer to plug in a mouse and keyboard. When a friend comes over he plays on my pc and i switch to my ps3, and it would be nice to see the feature added. Thanks!
