i also agree "endgame" needs to be removed from the mmo vocabulary. it should be things spread out from the second you log in to max level, content shouldn't die but give reason to redo if wanted. and a race to the max levels need to stop cause the ride there can be the best part.

I think everyone should have everything the moment they start the game. Doing anything that takes more than 30 mins to get good gear is just a timesink, am I right? I want to log in for the first time and have all the high lvl gears, and do quests that take 5 minutes to gain lvls. I have a life and the game should be exactly how I want it to be because I am entitled to it because I paid money.

    Exaggeration knows no bounds.

Even the gaming world is starting to acknowledge that 6+ hours everyday isn't a good thing, thus the reminder at the start screen. If the only thing you like to do is gaming, you might have that kind of time. But to get the most out of life, moderation is key.

Taking myself for example, not only I do have other obligations, I have other interests. Besides teaching my children, being a mother and wife (full time job right there), I also love reading, studying Japanese and Japanese culture, horses and horseback riding (never get to do that anymore), anime, video editing and photoshop, other types of pc games like Nancy Drew, etc, etc.

There are days I might spend several hours on an mmo. There are times I might get 6 hours in over a full week. I personally don't care how long it takes to do something, or how hard it is, as long as I can feel like I made progress and had fun doing it.

Being able to feel like one progressed is the key thing to what people look for in mmos, I think. That might mean they need something that seems easy to you, because it's hard to them. If people can't progress, they won't play.

I don't want to know your life story. All I am saying is that I want to get all my good gear easier! This game is soo hard as it is. I don't have time to do all those hard NMS, and 8 people party isin't enough people! Also I paid like 75 bucks for this game, SE needs to listen to my ideas because I know they are so good!

I tend to think of hardcore gamers as people for whom games are a hobby as opposed to just a pastime. The idea that hardcore equates to ability in a game is flawed. Just because someone invests time in something doesn't mean they are good at it.

I've seen a lot of posts in this thread from people who identify themselves as hardcore, and who seem to a have a very strong sense of entitlement over "casuals." I'm not really sure why the OP singles out casuals as acting entitled. Hardcore players aren't entitled to be treated as if they are some sort of elite group who the devs have an obligation to cater too above everyone else. You could just as easily argue that someone who pays for multiple accounts is entitled to more from the game because they give SE more money each month than a person who pays for a single account. I don't think SE is going to cater to that sort of reasoning from any subgroup of players.

If you play 15 hours a day you can level all your jobs to cap, but if your playskills suck you won't get a good endgame shell. The casual player who plays 2 - 3 hours a day and has great playskills can get a good endgame shell. Does that 15 hours a day entitle that hardcore player to the casual players NM drops? It really boils down to what you can accomplish for yourself in the time you can play.

Some of my favorite titles in XI are from 3 day pop HNM like Nid or Cerb, so I do like the idea of having that sort of accomplishment in XIV. I think there are other ways of going about creating that sort of challenge than requiring people to wake up at 4 am on a workday just to have someone bot claim the NM out from under them.

The sole problem with the game development atm imho is the fact they keep sayings lets add this or that for the casual gamers. They need to understand that about 90% of the FFXIV playerbase is not casual gamers, so don't waste as much time creating content for that 10% of people. I really think they should do another poll and ask what kind of gamer do you consider yourself as? Give 3 options, Casual Gamer. Mediocre Gamer (someone who falls between the 2, for instances likes to do large scale pve content but who also enjoys playing solo some days) and Hardcore Gamer. They do not need to ask how often you play the game because someone may consider themselves a hardacore player but only have time to play for 10 hours a week and you might label them as a casual player or they may answer they play casually now because of lack of content etc.

BTW if you didn't catch it Moth was being 100% sarcastic. I know Moth and her peeps although not on the greatest of terms haha, she is far from a casual player.

when it comes to the bottom line, regardless of whats right and wrong, we will get some hardcore gameplay options that the casuals will just not be able to keep up with...... thank god.
